This is going to be a simplified guide on one of the biggest questions I had starting out – Production chains.
We all heard in the beginning how many brick factories can be supported by 1 clay pit and that left me with the question of yes, but what else? How many?

Basic Guidelines
To better understand what I’ll be writing below here is an informative explanation with a complicated (but we can all agree on – mandatory in our lives) production chain: Beer!
Beer
2 Grain Farm > 1 Malthouse (Input 2 grain, Output 2 Malt/min)
1 Malthouse + 3 Hop Farms > 2 Breweries (Input 1 Malt + 1 Hop, Output 1 Beer)
Hop Farm explanation: 1 Hop farm – 0.667 hop/min, 3 Hop Farms – 2 hop/min (Supports 2 breweries)
Supports 1300 Workers OR 975 Artisans OR 750 Oberos (New World)
The numbers before the building name indicate how many buildings are required of each type for a 100% efficient production chain per minute.
So 2 Grain Farms produce enough Grain for 1 Malthouse at 100% efficiency
1 Malthouse along with 3 Hop Farms produce enough for 2 Breweries to work at 100% efficiency
The Input and Output are PER 1 BUILDING.
So when it says for example (Input 1 Malt + 1 Hop, Output 1 Beer) This is for a single Brewery.
Hope this helps to better understand.
Farmers
Timber
1 Lumberjack’s hut > 1 Sawmill (Input 4 Wood, Output 4 Timber/min)
Fish
1 Fishery (No Input, Output 2 Fish/min)
Supports up to 800 Farmers & Workers
Schnapps
1 Potato Farm > 1 Schnapps Distillery (Input 2 Potatoes, Output 2 Schnapps/min)
Supports up to 600 Farmers & Workers
Work Clothes
1 Sheep Farm > 1 Framework Knitters (Input 2 Wool, Output 2 Work Clothes/min)
Supports up to 650 Farmers & Workers
Workers
Bricks
1 Claypit > 2 Brick Factories (Input 1 Clay, Output 1 Brick/min)
Sausages
1 Pig Farm > 1 Slaughterhouse (Input 1 Pig, Output 1 Sausage/min) Wonders who eats the rest
Supports up to 1000 Workers OR 750 Artisans (25% less)
Sails
1 Sheep Farm > 1 Sailmakers (Input 2 Wool, Output 2 Sails/min)
Bread (This is where things start to become messy)
2 Grain Farm > 1 Flour Mill (Input 2 Grain, Output 2 Flour/min)
1 Flour Mill > 2 Bakery (Input 1 Flour, Output 1 Bread/min)
Supports up to 1100 Workers OR 825 Artisans (Again 25% less, just take this as a rule of thumb)
Soap
2 Pig Farms > 2 Rendering Works (Input 1 Pig, Output 1 Tallow/min)
2 Rendering Works > 1 Soap Factory (Input 2 Tallow, Output 2 Soap/min)
Supplies up to 4800 Workers OR 3600 Artisans
Steel Beams
1 Iron Mine + 2 Charcoal Kiln/Coal > 2 Furnaces (Input 2 Iron + 2 Coal, Output 2 Steel/min)
2 Furnaces > 3 Steelwork (Input 1.3 Steel, Output 1.3 Steel beams/min)
Wait what?? 1.3 a minute?
Explanation: Steelworks produce 1 Steel Beam per 00:45 seconds, this means 2 per 1:30 so 1.3 per 1 minute. This is the math if you see any ugly numbers in the future.
Weapons
1 Iron Mine + 2 Charcoal Kiln/Coal > 2 Furnaces (Input 2 Iron + 2 Coal, Output 2 Steel/min)
2 Furnaces > 6 Weapon Factory (Input 0.667 Steel, Output 0.667 Weapon/min)
Tip: 1 Steelworks + 1 Weapon Factory use 2 Steel per min, This means 1 Furnace is enough for both factories (Input 2 Steel, Output 1.3 Steel beam + 0.667 Weapon/min)
Beer
2 Grain Farm > 1 Malthouse (Input 2 grain, Output 2 Malt/min)
1 Malthouse + 3 Hop Farms > 2 Breweries (Input 1 Malt + 1 Hop, Output 1 Beer)
Hop Farm explanation: 1 Hop farm – 0.667 hop/min, 3 Hop Farms – 2 hop/min (Supports 2 breweries)
Supports 1300 Workers OR 975 Artisans OR 750 Oberos (New World)
