Gilded Shadows Guide: Walkthrough for All Routes/Endings + Achievements

All Passionate, Sweet and Bad Endings and Routes for the 6 men, all achievements, and all CGs walkthrough and guide. Also the “ideal” personality for each man, and addition CGs for the unreleased characters. I will add the new characters when they’re released.

Support the dev by checking out their official guide if you’re able to.

Intro

Here are some basics you may want to know before you start playing:

  • There are 6 people to romance right now (Reuben, Yuu and Quill will be released later, and I will update this guide when they are)
  • Each option has a certain number of endings, with Magnus and Jack having the most. They all have a “Passionate” and “Sweet” ending. You are only given an “ending” achievement for the “Passionate” ending, which can be largely seen as the “good” romance ending, whilst “Sweet” ending only occurs if your affection meter with the men is not high enough.
  • I personally recommend starting with the Crimson characters (in particular, do Jack’s route, and then Caissa’s route) before you start the Endgame characters (in particular, Ari’s route first, and then Caleb’s route). This is because I think they run onto each other well and prevent the majority of spoilers. Then the game itself recommends Magnus before Lance, and I personally recommend Lance last, as well. As the credits appear after his route.
  • I will not be adding the timelines, as they are basically “done” for you. All you have to do is play with the suggested traits given as clues within the timeline.
  • Like my other guides, this one will not be concise. If you want the “fatest” and “optimal” ways to woo them all, this is not the guide for you. It is detailed in order to give people as much information for those little loose ends.
  • Your eye-colour and hair-colour do not matter. Pick your favourite look at your leisure. Keep in mind, certain characters will have certain dialogue based on your appearance. For example, the Ari route will unlock a special text if you also have white hair. Your personality, however, does matter – as certain choices are locked behind personality traits.
  • Please note: In each section, I tell you what character traits to pick at the start of the choices. These are only referring to your initial choices when you press new game. Sometimes the “correct” choice in a route will contradict your character’s personality. Do not play blindly thinking the traits at the start are the only thing you need to pick going forward.

Jack (Passionate Ending)

I’m a man of many talents, Butterfly

Jack has 5 endings. It is recommended to play it with white hair for a dialogue change. Follow this guide to unlock the “Jack Passionate Ending” achievement. You will also unlock “Life Saver“, “Burn it with fire” and “Spoilers” with this route. This will also unlock almost all of Jack’s CGs, apart from the 9th one.

For this walkthrough, play as “Confident, Stubborn, and Emotional”:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it – Unlocks “Burn it with fire
  • Join the crowd and see what’s going on
  • Keep the observation about his accent to yourself
  • Push past him, and just get away from the crowd.
  • Ask the man if he’s okay
  • Fight against your attacker
  • Take the Flask and drink
  • Pick up a weapon and get ready to fight
  • Drop it
  • Reason with him – Unlocks “Lifesaver
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • Trust Jack – even though he’s kinda shady.
  • Find Jack and warn him – (The game will ask you if it is ok to enter the “Crimson” routes here. Confirm that it is.)
  • I want to go with Jack – (The game will ask you if it is ok to enter Jack’s route here. Duh, that’s what we’re here for. Confirm that it is.)
  • Being able to destroy isn’t incredible
  • Tell him you’ve never seen the stars before
  • Take a closer look
  • Tease him a little
  • Try to reassure him and tell him you’re glad to see him
  • I just meant I have a different perspective.
  • Calm him down and change the subject
  • That’s it, I could heal Jack with Psi
  • Maybe if he’d been less cautious, you wouldn’t have got hurt.
  • An important person to me.
  • I’m not someone who can stop from caring about people here.
  • I’m sorry for scaring you.
  • Go check Sylvia’s journal instead – Unlocks “Spoilers
  • Maybe not, but I understand how he must feel
  • Tackle him
  • Follow him
  • Someone had to do something
  • Why don’t you try me then? I might surprise you.
  • The other queen here is the biggest threat – Unlocks “Jack Passionate Ending
    (Confirmed 100% affection meter)

Jack (Sweet Ending + Bad Endings)

In order to get the other 4 endings, I recommend running “Cautious, Flexible and Analytical” and doing the exact opposite of every choice listed above in the passionate route, because if Jack’s affection metre is too high, certain bad endings will automatically be blocked by Jack intervening.

To reach the “Sweet Ending” (which is unlocked by reaching the end of the story with a low affection metre), you simply need to do as described, whilst taking care to avoid the three death flags below:

Ending #3: The Merging

  • Stubborn: Search around with your abilities

Ending #4: CastawayThis unlocks the final missing CG for Jack

  • Flexible: Gently try to talk him down

Ending #5: Capture the Queen

  • “You only made us hate you.”
  • “You made us into your enemy.”

Sweet Ending Route:

  • Toss the card on the side and try to forget about it.
  • Join the crowd to see what’s going on.
  • Comment on his accent and ask where he’s from
  • I’ll come by this afternoon as planned.
  • Apologise to him
  • Fight your attacker
  • Slap it out of his hand
  • Run back the way you came
  • Fight to get away
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • Don’t trust him! He’s way too shady.
  • Find Jack and warn him
  • I want to go with Jack
  • Tell me more about where I am exactly
  • Tell him to stop laughing
  • It would have been better to keep living in ignorance.
  • Return upstairs for now
  • Change the subject
  • But I am still an outsider, Jack
  • Tell him he shouldn’t be out of bed yet
  • He needs a hospital!
  • Maybe you should be more cautious, too
  • He’s the only person I really know here
  • I needed a distraction.
  • I guess I know how you feel now
  • Go check Sylvia’s journal instead – The other option is the first death flag.
  • If we had been more careful, he wouldn’t have to rampage
  • Block his path and contact Celeste for help – The other option is the second death flag.
  • Let him go
  • I am not being cocky!
  • Why don’t you try me then? I might surprise you. – The other option is the final death flag.
  • If I go with you, will you leave everyone else alone?

The future calls.

Caissa (Passionate Ending)

There’s a part of me that severely questions your taste in men.

Caissa has 4 endings. Following this route will give you all but the 9th CG, and will also unlock the achievements “Caissa Passionate Ending“, “Burn it with fire” and “A True Criminal“.

For this route, you should play as “Cautious, Flexible and Emotional”:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it – Unlocks “Burn it with fire
  • Join the crowd to see what’s going on
  • Keep the observation about his accent to yourself.
  • I’ll come by this afternoon as planned.
  • Apologise to him
  • Flee your attacker and find help
  • Slap it out his hand
  • ]Ask who’s there
  • Reason with him
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • Trust Jack… even though he’s kinda shady.
  • Find Jack and warn him – The game will ask you to confirm starting the “Crimson” routes. Confirm.
  • Stay quiet and let them decide The game will ask you to confirm starting “Caissa’s” route. Confirm.
  • N-n-not cold
  • What does that mean?
  • How do you think I’m doing!?
  • Go ahead and meet the trainer first
  • I don’t intend to compete with you
  • It was nice to see another familiar face
  • Wait where you are for Jack to arrive
  • Because doing something stupid can get others hurt too
  • What’s the rush on all this anyway?
  • Then how do I adapt?
  • Go to Veli’s side to check on him
  • But you don’t like that sort of thing, do you?
  • Caissa would probably rather do it.
  • You don’t have a problem getting engaged to me?
  • Continue to play along
  • I want to stay.
  • Yes. I am.
  • I don’t intend to.
  • Caissa isn’t violent
  • Fighting because I choose to is different.
  • Persuade him
  • Let’s get you to safety first, then try to find him. – Unlocks “Caissa Passionate Ending” & “A True Criminal
(Confirmed 100% affection meter – credits to Leah for helping fix some prior issues to this route)

Caissa (Sweet Ending + Bad Endings)

In order to get the other 3 endings, I recommend running “Cautious, Stubborn and Emotional” and doing the exact opposite of every choice listed above in the passionate route, because if Caissa’s affection metre is too high, certain bad endings will automatically be blocked by Caissa intervening. Unlike Jack’s ending, you must have a minimum level of affection with Caissa in order to avoid one of the bad endings.

To reach the “Sweet Ending” (which is unlocked by reaching the end of the story with a low affection metre), you simply need to do as described, whilst taking care to avoid the two death flags below:

Ending #3: Shattered Court – (Note: this can be difficult to get. The sweet route below shows in brackets how to do it.)

  • This one occurs after: “Stubborn: That’s right” but is not directly caused by it. It is an affection metre determined ending.

Ending #4: Collapse – This unlocks the final missing CG for Caissa

  • Neutral: This isn’t the time to think about revenge, Caissa.

Sweet Ending Route:

  • Toss the card aside and try to forget about it
  • Join the crowd to see what’s going on
  • Keep the observation about his accent to yourself
  • I’ll come by this afternoon as planned
  • Push past him, and just get away from the crowd.
  • Flee your attackers and find help
  • Slap it out of his hand
  • Ask who’s there
  • Reason with him
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • Don’t trust him! He’s way too shady
  • Find Jack and warn him
  • Stay quiet and let them decide
  • Shake your head and do not speak
  • Is Cassia an Esper as well?
  • Why did you lie to me?
  • Delay the meeting as long as possible and take a tour
  • I was not happy to see him
  • Go to your room where you know you’ll find someone else waiting
  • Veli, can you get off my back!? I’m trying my best
  • Sometimes adaptation feels more like giving up
  • Stay by the door and ask them what happened again
  • And that’s what I’m a part of now
  • Sure, I think I’d like to see more of it.

At this point in the game, you need to be a little nicer to Caissa, or you fall into a bad end. Therefore, the next few choices are very nice despite it being the sweet ending. Or continue being a d*ck to Caissa here to get the bad end – choices for that are in brackets.

  • This engagement is fake! That’s the issue! or (I’m not getting engaged to the Crimson heir!)
  • Go along with it or (gently push him away)
  • I want to stay or (It’s not a choice for me to make)
  • Yes, I am. or (I do care about him. I don’t know if it’s love.)
  • I don’t intend to. or (I’m really tired of this kind of thing…)
  • Caissa isn’t violent or (That isn’t what happened)
  • Fighting because I choose to is different or (That’s right)

The bad end is now avoided. Back to the bullying.

  • Threaten him
  • Let’s get you to safety first, then try to find him – This option is the second death flag.

And I was looking forward to finding out where it led.

Ari (Passionate Ending)

“I’ve never allowed myself to want something this strongly.

Ari has 3 endings. For Ari’s route, I recommend having white hair, as a dialogue change is involved. This route will give you all but the 10th CG. This route will unlock the “Burn it with fire“, “Teleportation Pro” and “Ari Passionate Ending” achievements.

For this route, you should be “Cautious, Stubborn and Analytical”:

  • Throw the card in the bin, you don’t need or want it – Unlocks “Burn it with fire
  • Take a different route altogether, just in case
  • Thank him
  • I’m really sorry, but I actually am busy right now
  • Ask the man if he’s okay
  • Play along for now
  • Take the flask and drink
  • Ask who’s there
  • Reason with him
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • I don’t have a choice but it doesn’t mean I trust you
  • Wait there and say nothing – The game will ask if you are sure you want to unlock the “Endgame” route. Confirm.
  • The tall kidnapper – The game will ask if you are sure you want to unlock the “Ari” route. Confirm.
  • Push his hands away and get up, anyway
  • I don’t dislike it…
  • You can’t lose sight of the fact the future always holds unknowns
  • Is your shoulder alright?
  • I guess I didn’t really think of it that way
  • I’ll stay and wait a little longer
  • Do it again. You will get it right this time.
  • Try and clear the air
  • Agree with Caleb
  • Of course it does!
  • Accept his help
  • Everything I’ve observed about him is in my report
  • Go to him and comfort him
  • I already have something scheduled
  • Of course it’s okay.
  • I’m ready, I can do this.
  • Assure him he’s not going to lose you
  • It can be hard getting used to sleeping with someone, can’t it?
  • No, I have to do this. – Unlocks “Teleportation Pro” and “Ari Passionate Ending
    (Confirmed 100% affection metre)

Ari (Sweet Ending + Bad Endings)

In order to get the other 2 endings, I recommend running “Confident, Flexible and Emotional” and doing the exact opposite of every choice listed above in the passionate route, because if Ari’s affection metre is too high, certain bad endings will automatically be blocked by Ari intervening. Like Caissa’s ending, you must have a minimum level of affection with Ari in order to avoid one of the bad endings.

To reach the “Sweet Ending” (which is unlocked by reaching the end of the story with a low affection metre), you simply need to do as described, whilst taking care to avoid the death flag below:

Ending #3: Test SubjectThis unlocks the final missing CG for Ari.

  • This occurs by default if Ari’s affection meter is not high enough by a certain point. The Sweet Route below (parts in brackets) shows how to obtain this if you struggle.

Sweet Ending Route:

  • Toss the card aside and try to forget about it.
  • Take a different route altogether. Just in case.
  • Run away from him.
  • I’m really sorry, but I actually am busy right now.
  • Grab your things before they fall on the ground.
  • Flee your attacker and find help
  • Slap it out of his hand
  • Ask who’s there
  • Reason with him
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • I don’t have a choice, but that doesn’t mean I trust you
  • Wait there and say nothing
  • The tall kidnapper
  • Stay where you are for now
  • It kind of makes me uncomfortable
  • I don’t think I could sacrifice people knowingly
  • That was a good match – with Caleb, I mean
  • I still don’t think it’s the same.

At this point, you have to be nicer to Ari, or you will lock yourself into a bad ending. But If you want to continue being mean to Ari here to get that bad ending, follow what is in the brackets.

  • I’ll stay and wait a while longer – (Alright, let’s go)
  • Do it again. You will get it right this time. – (Refuse to go against another classmate)
  • Try to talk to her and clear the air – (Give her some space)
  • Agree with Caleb – (Defend Trent)
  • Of course it does! – (It bothers me that everyone has seen it!)
  • Accept his help – (Refuse his help)
  • Everything I’ve observed about him is in the report – (I don’t think he would do it)
  • Go to him and comfort him – (stay where you are)
  • I already have something scheduled – (I think I can manage it)
  • Think they’d let me go back to bed? – (I’m not ready! I’m definitely not ready.)
  • Assure him he’s not going to lose you – (Just hug him tighter)
  • I can’t sit out every mission I don’t like. – (It would be nice if they’d let me get away with that)

I found myself looking forward to seeing what the future would hold.

Caleb (Passionate Ending)

Heh, come at me any time little queen. I look forward to it.

Caleb has 4 endings. Caleb’s route unlocks the “Caleb Passionate Ending“, “Burn it with fire” and “Anything You Can Do…“. It also unlocks all but the 9th CG in his collection (with the two variations).

For this route, you want to be “Confident, Stubborn and Analytical”:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it. – Unlocks “Burn it with fire

  • I’m really sorry, but I actually am busy right now

  • This isn’t really why we’re here, is it?
  • Prove it to himORTurn away – Recommended you save before this choice, as there are 2 CG variations. “Prove it to him” gives you affection points, “Turn away from him” does not.
  • Take his hand
  • I never thought I’d date a kidnapper
  • Pull back right away
  • Delphine didn’t seem so bad.
  • Kiss him
  • Aren’t you being too obvious? – Unlocks “Caleb Passionate Ending
    (Confirmed 100% affection meter)

Caleb (Sweet Ending + Bad Endings)

In order to get the other 3 endings, I recommend running “Cautious, Flexible and Emotional” and doing the exact opposite of every choice listed above in the passionate route, because if Caleb’s affection metre is too high, certain bad endings will automatically be blocked by Caleb intervening. Thankfully, like Jack’s route, Caleb does not require a “minimum” affection metre to survive until the sweet ending. So you can be as mean as you’d like to him.

To reach the “Sweet Ending” (which is unlocked by reaching the end of the story with a low affection metre), you simply need to do as described, whilst taking care to avoid the two death flags below:

Ending #3: DerailedThis unlocks the final missing CG for Caleb

  • Confident: Look closer and see who it is

Ending #4: Tirune

  • Confident: Save the man, and shut down the relic

Sweet Ending Route:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it.

  • I should probably go give a report to the officers
  • I’m really sorry, but I actually am busy right now.
  • Grab your things before they fall on the ground

  • Wait there and say nothing
  • The grumpy kidnapper
  • Run away from him
  • No. I’d have done the right thing.
  • It doesn’t feel that way.
  • And I guess I’m meant to just accept that.
  • Excuse me? What are you doing here?
  • I’m enjoying it so far
  • Thank you, I’d rather not talk about it.
  • Stay where you are.
  • Are you even serious right now??
  • Is it time to leave now?
  • You’re not wrong.
  • Turn away from him
  • Let him finish first
  • Pull back right away – The other option is the first death flag.
  • Did you grow up in Delphine?
  • How can you possibly do that
  • Wait and see what happens – The other option is the second and final death flag.

I was so, so glad I ended up here with him.

Magnus (Passionate Ending)

When I’m with you, that mask always somehow slips away.

Magnus has 5 endings. For Magnus’ route, it is worth having silver hair because of some unique dialogue available to you if you do it. In the “Magnus Passionate Ending” route, you will unlock that achievement, and “Burn it with fire“, “Life Saver“, and “Midnight Snack“. Following this guide gives you all but the 10th CG for Magnus.

For his route – you should be “Confident, Flexible and Emotional”:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it. – Unlocks “Burn it with fire
  • Join the crowd and see what’s going on
  • Keep the observation about his accent to yourself
  • I’m really sorry, but I actually am busy right now
  • Ask the man if he’s okay

  • Take the flask and drink

  • I guess I was afraid.
  • So the of you work directly under Magnus?

  • Finding him is the most important thing right now – Unlocks “Magnus Passionate Ending
    (Confirmed 100% affection meter)

Magnus (Sweet Ending + Bad Endings)

In order to get the other 4 endings, I recommend running “Cautious, Stubborn and Emotional” and doing the exact opposite of every choice listed above in the passionate route, because if Magnus’ affection metre is too high, certain bad endings will automatically be blocked by Magnus intervening. Thankfully, like Jack’s route, Magnus does not require a “minimum” affection metre to survive until the sweet ending. So you can be as mean as you’d like to him.

To reach the “Sweet Ending” (which is unlocked by reaching the end of the story with a low affection metre), you simply need to do as described, whilst taking care to avoid the three death flags below:

Ending #3: Power Surge

  • Refuse the treatment -> Neutral: Try to reactivate your system on principle

Ending #4: Point Blank

  • Analytical: Not until you explain to me what’s going on

Ending #5: DividedThis unlocks the final missing CG for Magnus

  • Confident: Wait for him for a while

Sweet Ending Route:

  • Toss the card aside and try to forget about it..
  • Take a different route altogether. Just in case.
  • Run away from him
  • I’m really sorry, but I actually am busy right now.
  • Grab your things before they fall on the ground
  • Fight against your attacker
  • Slap it out of his hand
  • Run back the way you came
  • Fight to get away
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • I don’t have a choice, but that doesn’t mean I trust you
  • Wait there and say nothing
  • That blond guy from before.
  • I’m sorry, but who are you again?
  • I was being selfish
  • You mentioned the queen’s guard is ‘in the field’?
  • Ask if he is wearing his psi inhibitor.
  • I hope they’re not stupid enough to think that will work.
  • Go back for now
  • Of course I am.
  • How do they justify that!?
  • Leave him alone
  • …Goodnight, Magnus
  • What happened to her?
  • When have you people ever confirmed anything with me??
  • Accept the treatment – The other option is the first death flag.
  • Leave it alone, it’s not worth it
  • That wasn’t the case for you, was it?
  • Stay behind them and let them handle it
  • Tell him the truth
  • Go to Ari like Caleb told you
  • Well, you know him better than I do…
  • Won’t that make things worse? – The other option is the second death flag.
  • Will you tell me what is going on with Lethe now?
  • Finding him is the most important thing right now – The other option is the third and final death flag.

There was a long road ahead. But… I was glad to be on it with him.

Lance (Passionate Ending)

“Humans never know what’s best for them…”

Lance has 3 endings. For this route, it is recommended that your character has light grey/blue eyes for secret dialogue with it. Alongside the “Lance Passionate Ending“, this route unlocks the “Burn it with fire“, “Car Thief” and “Well that was a bad plan” achievements. This route unlocks all but the 8th and 9th CGs in Lance’s route.

For this route, you should be “Confident, Flexible and Analytical”:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it. – Unlocks “Burn it with fire
  • Join the crowd to see what’s going on
  • Keep the observation about his accent to yourself
  • I’ll come by later as planned.

  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • Trust Jack… even though he’s kinda shady.

  • What kind of time frame are we dealing with?
  • Teleport yourself and Lance out of sight – Unlocks “Lance Passionate Ending
    (Confirmed 100% affection meter)

Lance (Sweet Ending + Bad Endings)

In order to get the other 2 endings, I recommend running “Cautious, Stubborn and Emotional” and doing the exact opposite of every choice listed above in the passionate route, because if Lance’s affection metre is too high, certain bad endings will automatically be blocked. Thankfully, like Jack’s route, Lance does not require a “minimum” affection metre to survive until the sweet ending. So you can be as mean as you’d like to him.

To reach the “Sweet Ending” (which is unlocked by reaching the end of the story with a low affection metre), you simply need to do as described, whilst taking care to avoid the death flag below:

Ending #3: Dream is GoneThis unlocks the two missing CGs for Lance

  • Emotional: Do it. Turn yourself in.

Sweet Ending Route:

  • Throw the card in the bin. You don’t need or want it.
  • Join the crowd to see what’s going on
  • Keep your observation about his accent to yourself
  • I’ll come by this afternoon as planned.
  • Push past him, and just get away from the crowd
  • Fight your attacker
  • Slap it out of his hand
  • Run back the way you came
  • Fight to get away
  • Flee the area to a safer place
  • Trust Jack… even though he’s kinda shady.
  • Go through the front to Jack’s car
  • Stay in bed
  • Decline
  • Ask if you can talk to him about something
  • How much do these ‘reverse nets’ lower the odds of me being found?
  • I guess I’ll have to talk your word for that
  • But you changed my clothes already, didn’t you?
  • Maybe you’re right
  • Take his hands
  • I’m going to miss it here
  • War is always like that, I guess
  • Well, it would be nice if it were true, anyway.
  • I suppose I want some recognition, yes
  • Decide it’s too risky
  • Alright, I’ll let you drive me
  • How are the others holding up?
  • This is all my fault
  • Wait until morning to talk to Lance – The only death flag should appear here. It won’t appear if Lance likes you too much.
  • Is it possible to just move the mainframe or hide it better?
  • At this point, is their intent to apprehend me or to kill me?
  • Rush out and draw their attention away from Lance

And I cannot wait to see where tomorrow and the days after take us.

Personality table

These are the “starting” personalities that each person likes the most, and dictates your starting relationship. However, it’s important to remember that it is not essential to use these personalities to get the Passionate ending for each character.
