Other Helltaker Guides:

The following are all the characters present throughout the gameplay of Helltaker:

  1. Justice
  2. Zdrada
  3. Pandemonica
  4. The Helltaker

Helltaker Characters

1. Justice

“Yo, did you just solve that puzzle? That’s awesome!”
Justice, The Awesome Demon

  • Aliases – The Awesome Demon
  • Species – Demon
  • Gender – Female
  • Eye color – Grey (blind)

Justice is the seventh demon encountered in Helltaker. Justice is a very chill demon. She is referenced to as “The Awesome Demon.”

Appearance

Justice, like most of the Helltaker cast, is depicted as a short demon girl with pale skin, a black arrow-tipped tail, and silvery-white hair. Her irises are grey as she is blind, which can be seen in the epilogue. She has a short pony tail on the back of her head, tighten with a red bandana. Poking out of her hair are two small black horns that are rounded at the tips. She has white eyebrows and wears sunglasses, masking her blindness.

Justice has a black tie with two silver clips attaching it to her red shirt. She wears a black suit jacket, which she wears, unbuttoned, around her shoulders. She sports red fingerless gloves, gifted to her by Lucifer, with metal tags on the wrists, labelled “HPJ”, which likely stands for “High Prosecutor Justice.” She wears black pants with a belt and boots like the rest of the demons.

Personality

Justice is the most laid-back demon in the game, and doesn’t kill The Helltaker in any ending. Her personality is not fully explored in the game, as she has little dialogue, but what is shown almost describes her as a joker, and rather friendly, as she tells Judgement to “Keep going…” and “You’re on a roll!”, this could be either a joke direct towards Judgement, or a genuine expression which shows that she cares for Judgement, which could make sense, with Justice being the former High Prosecutor. However, her joker personality is further explored in the epilogue of Helltaker, with her taking a bet that the Helltaker has laser vision.

Encounter

When the Helltaker first encounters Justice at the end of level 7, she introduces herself talking about how the player beaten the puzzle and thought it was awesome. The player is given two options to respond with:

  1. “It took some work. Wanna join my harem?”
  2. “I just skipped it in the menu. Wanna join my harem?”

If the player picks the first option, she tells the player that there is no need to ask, as she would never miss a party.

If the player picks the second option, she tells the player how it would’ve been something she would have done, and “The More, the Merrier!”

Both options lead into success and her joining the player’s harem, similar to how Judgement’s dialogue works.

Trivia

  1. Given her blindness, Justice’s appearance is a reference to Lady Justice.
  2. According to dialogue in the Beelzebub ending, Justice was former High Prosecutor before Judgement.
  3. She might be the only demon who is friends with another, as alluded with her relationship with Lucifer. Her distinctive gloves were gifted to her by Lucifer, and they seem to respect each other, with Justice having her arm around Lucifer’s shoulder in the proper ending for the game, the friendliest interaction between two demons in the game.

2. Zdrada

“Yo. I’ve heard about your harem. I’m in.”
Zdrada, The Bitch Demon

  • Aliases – The Bitch Demon
  • Relatives – Malina (sister)
  • Species – Demon
  • Gender – Female
  • Eye color – Red

Zdrada is the fifth demon encountered in Helltaker. She is referenced to as “The Bitch Demon.”

Appearance

Zdrada, like most of the Helltaker cast, is depicted as a short demon girl with pale skin, red irises, a black arrow-tipped tail, and silvery-white hair. Her hair is quite short and most of the hair covers the right eye. Poking out of her hair are two small black horns that are rounded at the tips, a bit sharpen. Zdrada has white eyebrows and a black eyeshadow on her eye. She also has piercings on her mouth, ears and nose. On her arms you can see sorts of black bracelets, one of them reaching over to her finger. In addition to her white cross necklace, which is a clear reference to her name, She also wears a black choker.

Personality

N/A

Encounter

When the Helltaker first encounters Zdrada at the end of level 5, she introduces herself talking about the player’s harem and saying immediately she is joining it. The player is given two options to respond with:

  1. “Wait. I have a feeling I’ll regret it.”
  2. “It’s not really a harem anymore. We just play turn based strategies.”

If the player picks the first option, she tells the player she will be coming anywhere and how The Helltaker is free to try to make her stop. A big gas of smoke comes out of her mouth as she giggles. Zdrada joins the party and the player receives a “SUCCESS” prompt, advancing on to Level 6.

If the player picks the second option, Zdrada puts you out of your misery by killing you from that. The player is given a “Bad End” screen, which says “Your vision swam. The last thing you noticed was a knife buried hilt deep between your ribs.”

Trivia

  1. Zdrada’s name means “Betrayal”, a clear reference to why she has a white cross necklace.
  2. Zdrada’s name directly translated from Polish means “Treason” fitting with her and her sister being of Slavic roots.

3. Pandemonica

“Thank you for relying on Hell’s Customer Service.”
Pandemonica, The Tired Demon

  • Aliases – The Tired Demon, The Sadistic Demon
  • Species – Demon
  • Gender – Female
  • Eye color – Red

Pandemonica is the first demon encountered in Helltaker, and is a customer service representative in Hell. She is initially referenced to as “The Tired Demon”, but is later revealed to be a sadist as well.

Appearance

Pandemonica, like most of the Helltaker cast, is depicted as a short demon girl with pale skin, red irises, a black arrow-tipped tail, and silvery-white hair. Her hair is wavy and fashioned in 3 large curls resting on her forehead, with the middle curl being larger than the two on either side. It reaches down both sides of her head, tucked behind her ears, with both ends curling inwards at the bottom of her head close to her chin.

Additionally, she has a pony tail on the back of her head with two more large, distinctive curls. Poking out of her hair are two small black horns that are rounded at the tips. She has white eyebrows and has visible dark circles under her rounded eyes, giving her a tired appearance as her alias would suggest; after drinking coffee though, her eyes become much more sharp and angular, and her horns grow much larger, first curving in toward her ponytail and then upwards, and are much sharper. Over her eyes are a pair of round-framed glasses.

Pandemonica also has a very professional look in terms of attire; She wears a red button-up long-sleeve shirt with a large folded collar underneath a black long-sleeved blazer, as well as a black pencil skirt and black gloves. How the skirt makes accommodations for her tail is unknown. She also wears an ID on a black lanyard, and can upon first interaction is also seen holding a red clipboard.

Personality

Pandemonica was originally full of all of vanripper’s favourite traits, like being socially awkward but polite, archaic in an elegant way, and a tired hard worker; however, upon remembering that Helltaker was supposed to be a game about bad demon girls, vanripper added a more sadistic side to her personality which is brought out after she drinks coffee. She is either Tired or Sadistic, and is happy to break the Helltaker’s fingers if he makes bad coffee.

Encounter

When the Helltaker first encounters Pandemonica at the end of Level 1, she introduces herself as “Hell’s Customer Service”. She then asks the player how she can serve them, to which the player is presented with two response options:

  1. “We can figure something out at my place”
  2. “Maybe I can serve YOU instead?”

If the player picks the first option, Pandemonica asks the player if they really think they’ll leave Hell alive, and call them delusional. The player is greeted with one of many “Bad End” screens, where it is explained that she snapped your neck “with professional gentleness”.

If the player picks the second option, Pandemonica eases up and slouches over, adjusting her glasses. She says that it’s sweet of you to offer, and that she could use some coffee because she’s not herself without it. Pandemonica joins the party and the player is greeted with a “SUCCESS” prompt, advancing on to Level 2.

Trivia

Pandemonica’s name is most likely a portmanteau of the word “Pandemonium” and the name “Monica”, where Pandemonium could be referring to one of two definitions:

  • The original Greek word, roughly translating to “Abode of all demons”
  • “Pandæmonium” the capital of Hell in John Milton’s epic “Paradise Lost”.

4. The Helltaker

The Helltaker is the character that the player controls throughout Helltaker.

  • Species – Human
  • Gender – Male
  • Eye color – Black

Appearance

The Helltaker is a buff, muscular man, who enjoys playing turn based strategy games and eating chocolate pancakes. During his trek through hell, he wears a red shirt and a white suit jacket and pants, with a red flower in his lapel. At the end of the game, he replaces his suit jacket with a black apron while he cooks pancakes.

Story

Upon waking up from a vivid dream about having a harem of demon girls, The Helltaker decided he would venture down into Hell to build a demon harem in the real world.

In the epilogue, the game declares that although a life with a demon harem is guaranteed to be short and painful, you might as well have fun and make the most of it.
