Just Shapes & Beats – Beat Points / Tips and Tricks

A Level and Beat Points info guide to help you get Beat Points in a quick and efficient way!

Introduction

What are Beat Points?
Beat Points are the in game “currency” for Just Shapes and Beats. You gain them upon completing Challenges and Playlists of the levels from the games Story Mode and even some that are Extras. Beat Points are required to unlock these Extra levels with each one requiring a different amount of points to unlock as shown below:

  • HYPE: 1000 Beat Points
  • Tokyo Skies: 2000 Beat Points
  • Dance Of The Incognizant: 2500 Beat Points
  • FOX: 5000 Beat Points
  • Core: 7500 Beat Points
  • Crystal Tokyo: 10,000 Beat Points
  • On the Run: 12,500 Beat Points
  • Mortal Kombat 15,000 Beat Points

The list of all the Beat Points
This is useless to the guide but I’ll show you anyways. Every time you get a Beat Point by:

  • Beating an online level.
  • Collecting them in the Challenges lobby.
  • Beating playlists by yourself because you have no friends.

You will get… BEAT POINTS! However, these Beat Points come in some sexy looking shapes and sizes, as well as tiers. Every time you get a specific amount of Beat Points, your bar with the fancy looking tokens will automatically exchange with other even more fancy looking tokens. That just means your Beat Points are getting a higher tier. It’s all for the looks tbh. HERE ARE THE TIERS.

Tier 1: (1 BP) The grey Beat Point with the tiny darker, grey triangle you normally find floating around in the Challenge Lobbies. Even though they award you with just one for each piece you pick up, I still recommend going for them because you will end up stacking hours into those lobbies waiting for your teammates to die on the last part of Paper Dolls.

Tier 2: (5 BP) The same tier, with a white triangle instead! Tbh, no matter how many times you get a C rank on Mortal Kombat and a 1-2 Beat Point Bonus, you’ll always get one of these after you complete a level.

Tier 3: (25 BP) Small tokens with triangles do look pretty dull and lame… so that’s why we’re moving onto musical notes now! This game has music after all. You normally get this on average after every game. Just get a B rank, some righteous and cross checkpoints!

Tier 4: (100 BP) Same thing… BUT BIGGER! Another big, FAT, musical quaver just to REALLY make sure that we know this game has music. The games name isn’t a thing so shhh.

Tier 5: (500 BP) Getting bored of musical symbols already? HOW ABOUT SALT SHAKERS, or at LEAST they look like salt shakers! Why salt shakers you ask? What makes you think this game could be triggering? Perhaps it’s for that one player with 70k Beat Points that gets smacked in the first half of Unlocked while the other person with under 1000 gets an S-Rank.

Tier 6: (2500 BP) A clover!? Oh… it’s just the 4 player shapes. After a few hours of messing around in the challenges, surely you’ll already start to feel the repetitiveness. If that’s the case then I suggest quitting if you’re gonna ***** about it. Don’t go clapping yourself off yet just because you unlocked 3 Extras (Excluding the ones that require things other than Beat Points).

Tier 7: (10,000 BP) WOOOO A token that looks VERY rewarding. YES! You’ve finally spent about a weeks worth to unlock this happy lil gear face… like your face would like this after coming out of your 100th challenge with an S rank on Destroid. GET YOURSELF BACK IN THAT CHALLENGE ROOM BECAUSE YOU’RE STILL NOT FINISHED!

Tier 8: (50,000 BP) Ok calm tf down. You’ve already achieved WAY more than enough Beat Points. You only needed 15k to unlock the most bull**** level in existence (still a fun level regardless). Anyways… IS THAT A BLIXER! Yes it is… and now you’ve officially spent like 50 hours on completing every level at least 50 times. Now you can show off with this awesome looking token while your lil triangle friend you just met does circles around your 50,000 points score at the end of a level.

Tier 9: (250,000 BP) Obviously you would expect someone to go bananas over this amazing game and get this token that I still haven’t seen in game myself. Might go and make a quick call with Andres.

Tier 10: (1,000,000 BP) Yeah… this is getting silly. It looks unbelievably beautiful but just don’t expect a normal challenge game ever again once everyone starts circling you. Send me a screenshot of you or someone LEGITIMATELY achieving this and I will remove all my clothes and stand in the middle of my local supermarket. (That’s most likely not going to happen).

Gaining Beat Points

For EVERY Normal/Extras level that you complete, you will get:

– A rank that is C,B,A or S.
(The higher the rank, the more Points you will be awarded).
C Rank: 1 Beat Point | Died twice or more (you noob)
B Rank: 5 Beat Points | Died once
A Rank: 10 Beat Points | Got hit at least once but didn’t die
S Rank: 20 Beat Points | Never got hit

– A 10 Beat Point “playing with friends” or “Forever alone” award.
(this is by either playing with another person online or by yourself).

– Two Bonus Awards depending on how and how well you played.

For EVERY Boss level/Challenge that you complete, you will be awarded:

– A rank that is C,B,A or S.
(Same awards apply to the same rank on non-boss levels)

– A 10 Beat Point “playing with friends” or “Forever alone” award.
(this is by either playing with another person online or by yourself).

– A 30 Beat Point “Challenge Complete” Bonus.

– One Bonus Award depending on how and how well you played.

The 1-2 bonuses you get at the end of each level award you with slightly less Beat Points, however they do help in the long run.

Gaining Beat Points 2

Finally it’s time to bring on some tips for getting Beat Points.

What Bonuses should I go for after a game?
There are 3 bonuses that I consider the easiest and/or award you the most.

No Dash
– 10 Beat Points
Complete the entire level without Dashing once. (obviously)

Righteous
– 8 Beat Points
Stay on the right side for more than 50% of the levels duration. (some levels hate you getting this).

Danger Zone
– 8 Beat Points
Dash through the Pink 25 times (Note: I counted this to make sure and it’s the least amount you need to be awarded).

“I thought you could only get 1-2 Bonuses after every game”
Exactly! However some levels are impossible or near impossible to No-Dash or stay on the right side. NOTE: I strongly recommend these 3 Bonuses, ONLY if you’re confident with getting S and A ranks after every game.

Now here’s something I want to point out that makes No Dash extremely useless and is nothing but a higher risk of getting hit/dying. If you CAN’T get any of the other two bonuses… scratch that. If you CAN’T get righteous (because Danger Zone is impossible) along with No Dash and you CAN’T get S rank consistently. DON’T GO FOR IT! (Unless you’re with good teammates that can get you the “All Stars” bonus that awards everyone including you with 8 Beat Points). The reason I say it’s pointless is because you’ll end up getting slightly less or the same amount of Beat Points with the other bonuses that award you less when added up and you’ll just end up going for the harder route for nothing.

Righteous + Danger Zone = 16 Beat Points
No Dash + Righteous = 18 Beat Points
BUT
No Dash + Any other bonus (commonly, “The cheese stands alone” 6bp or “Aced It” 4bp) = <16 Beat Points

NOTE: There are also the HERO+, HERO++, and SHOW-OFF bonuses which awards you with 8-10bp for saving 8-10 of your friends. However trying to save that many while No Dashing just makes it downright suicide.

Level Tips and Recommendations

Here, I’ve organised a list of tips, and bonus recommendations along with the levels difficulty (imo). I strongly suggest following these ONLY if you’re confident with the levels and can achieve S rank regularly. No Dashing is already hard enough and you’ll pretty much lose the equivalent of a No Dash bonus if you get hit once.

Chronos
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Not Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: All the attacks come from the right side of the screen and they’re very spaced out and small which makes Danger Zone hard and annoying to achieve. Righteous is also very difficult to obtain.

Milky Ways
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Most attacks come from the right but are slow enough to react to. The long snakes are also long enough to dash through without a problem.

Logic Gatekeeper
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Balls come from the right side. Stay near the middle but on the right side, slightly down from the top. Strafe left and right when the drop happens.

New Fresh [BOSS]
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Multiple spots to no dash and righteous isn’t much harder than staying on the left side. [For No Dash] Stay in the bottom left at the quiet parts but pay close attention because you can still be hit. Go to the top left at the drop. For Blixer’s final phase, you can go right into its head at the top middle and not get hit. Go left a little bit and return back to the top middle when it does its white, cluster beam around the screen. Lastly, when it does its “jitter” beam for the last part of its attack, there are safe spots. There’s a spot 1/3 from the left and you won’t get hit. Just practice and memorize these areas.

New Game [BOSS]
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: A lot of people go on the left side for the first half of the level. The right side isn’t that hard either and before the drop, you’ll most likely already obtain Righteous. If you’re not sure, you can just chill on the right at its last centered attack because it has to be the easiest part of the level.

The Art of War
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Get in the big circles, strafe in and out of them to get danger zone but be careful of the smaller circles that appear out of the vertical chains. Righteous is equally as difficult as staying on the left side. No Dash is impossible because of the last part.

Termination Shock
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: A lot of dashing over pink has to happen anyways because this level is buffed and is tough. Righteous is doable, No Dash is not (The middle part with the spike pillars are randomized and are pretty much impossible to avoid without dashing).

Sevcon
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: No Dash is very hard because of the last quarter of the level and the middle part with the spinning pole. Right side is somewhat equal to the left side in difficulty and you’ll be forced to dash through some parts like the middle and end. To make sure you dash 25 times, I recommend dashing forwards and back with the tiny circles in the middle of the screen at the start and end of the level.

Cascade
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: Bottom Left Corner at the first center cluster and the bottom right corner for the last cluster.

NOTE: This cheese spot is super important to No Dash. Righteous the left part at the start and stay in the middle right at the drop so it still counts. You can then relax at the bottom right and pat yourself on the back while you wait for that beautiful S rank, No Dash and hopefully Righteous, at the end while all this chaos is happening around you at the same time.

Barracuda [BOSS]
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: Bottom Left corner at Barracuda’s last phase.

NOTE: You can learn to stay on the right for the first 1/2 of the level or cheese it out while you still can and No Dash. At the drop, just relax near Barracudas head but not too close to the shock wave and its balls should just fly past you and out to destroy your other teammates. Not sure how long this cheese spot will work but at its last attack where Barracuda appears on one of the four sides of the screen, just relax in the bottom left. Even if it appears on your side, you’ll just noclip tf out of it. BUT WATCH OUT! If Barracuda appear out from the TOP. RIGHT. SIDE to shoot those balls, move up and then down again while they pass because one WILL definitely hit you.

Dubwoofer Substep
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: Very Right, Middle for the first part and the last after the big splash.

NOTE: A lot of people go to the left side when really the right side isn’t any different. It’s in fact better tbh. For No Dash, relax in the very right side of the screen in the middle so no splashing water, triangles and hopefully no lil drops will hit you. When that memey voice appears, it’s time to head upwards but not directly upwards and in the middle. One hard part that you have to be careful with is the 2nd drop. When the blocks come again to splash the lava, you have to head up towards the top middle while there’s still drops falling. Stay behind and you’ll get sprayed down with miniature vertical beams from both sides. After the big rectangles stop and it comes to the last section, just relax on the right side. Don’t be intimidated by all the small vertical beams that come from the left and right, the gap is big enough!

Cheat Codes
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Not too much with this. Right side for the first and last big parts of the level can be there with not much more difficulty. Danger Zone is quite difficult in this since there are just small clusters and huge squares that are impossible to dash through making this level awkward af. Another small tip is to just stay in the areas that are on the corner of the squares because every beam just shoots out from the 4 sides.

Clash
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Right side can be equally difficult. Depends if the cannons decide to be nice. Before the drop with all the squares and circles moving around, you can actually stay at the very bottom or top and it’s very unlikely that they will hit you.

Lycanthropy [BOSS]
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: Left and Right Corners after the left and right spikes disappear before the drop.

NOTE: Big ol gear boss. Not too sure on why the left and right spikes before the drop are taken away while the multiple gear heads bounce around like the dvd screen saver on some imaginary walls. But anyways, you can just chill there before the boss. Righteous is not much harder.

Cool Friends
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Near Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: You should be able to dash 25 times at the top with the pink windmills at the start while moving along before the main part occurs.

Level Tips and Recommendations 2

The Lunar Whale
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Near Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No
NOTE: Getting these bonuses are all round difficult. The first half of the level involves several balls coming out from the right side (righteous the last 50% if you can) Danger Zone should just involve dashing forwards and back on the last section of the level, even when the vertical pole in the middle appears. No Dash is near impossible because of the last half.

Spectra
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: Not Really, Your hit box is small enough to fit in between the spinning attack at the end. Just lean up against the center hexagon.

NOTE: Big Hexagons, impossible No Dash. Almost impossible to not get Danger Zone. Chill on the right side of the screen if you can.

Unlocked
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Now Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Righteous is around the same difficulty as the left side so just chill in the middle but a little on the right for the first half, then strafe back and forwards on the right side during the last half. Dash up and down the beams before the drop so you can hopefully achieve Danger Zone.

Close to Me [BOSS]
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: The big gear makes No Dashing impossible. I don’t know much about the right side sorry because I’m always going for Danger zone on the left. You’ll pretty much end up getting Danger Zone regardless due our friends spinning beams at the start and the huge gears you’ll pass in and out a couple of times during the level.

Into The Zone
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Big up and down pillars at the 2nd section (before the drop) makes No Dashing impossible because you can’t go up and down in time. You can chill on the right, just as hard as the left but stay close to the center for the first half of the level. Danger zone, you’ll end up strafing forwards and backwards again for the whole drop just begging to not get hit.

Vindicate Me
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: 2/3 up to the very right at the first part of the level.

NOTE: Righteous is doable. Slightly harder than the left side because the whole level involves you having to keep up as you’re continuously forced to move to the right but will easily get stuck on the left side. Since I can’t be ****ed writing down how to No Dash this since it’s complicated and I suck at explaining, here’s a video on how to No Dash this and get an S Rank.

https://youtu.be/H55OZl5u1-k

(With the video however, you can also stay up top in the middle of the level and move along the right side with precaution)

Try This
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Pink walls, huge circles… na you’re not going to No Dash that. I actually play this level in a pretty ridiculous way. Staying on the right side if you can and at the drop yes, but for Danger Zone, I just strafe left and right between the alarm lights and some of the walls.

Final Boss [BOSS]
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Righteous is just as difficult as playing the entire level pretty much. You can be stupid if you want and climb up the tower on the right side and fit in between the gears that are constantly appearing and not get hit.

Annihilate
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Once again, I don’t know much about the right side as I only do Danger Zone on the left. Why do I recommend Danger Zone you ask? Because I found out this trick that I ALWAYS use now and it still counts that I “Dashed through Pink”.

If you do it fast enough, you can literally dash in and out of the pink from the same spot you dashed in to using the D and A keys (right and left analogue) and you’ll not get smacked if you do it correctly. Takes a bit of practice though cause I still sometimes end up dashing right into it because I accidentally held my D and A keys together for a slightly longer duration.

Legacy
Level Difficulty: Medium
Righteous: Not Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Big saw walls, impossible to No Dash. The fact that everything comes from the right and the screen continuously moves to the right makes going for Righteous extremely difficult and it’s just not worth it if you only want to get an A or die due to the constant scatter exploding balls appearing. Danger Zone is a breeze in this one because you’ll end up dashing through 25 pink walls without trying.

Wicked
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: The difficulty varies for both left and right sides in this level. This level also has a bunch of squares that just appear and don’t move for no reason whatsoever. I just end up dashing through those squares like the ones before the drop and during it. Be careful though because some parts around where these squares form are buggy AF. You’ll end up getting hit by some imaginary pink square that’s probably the size of a pixel.

First Crush
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended?
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Equal difficulty for left and right side. I’m not sure about No Dashing because the middle part is possible to stay in the right spot and not get hit while the pink, ball chain circles the screen in the middle of the level. If you can No Dash with Righteous, then go for it. Otherwise if you just want Danger Zone, then strafe left and right at the start of the level at the bottom of the 3 pink “fountains” that appear from top and bottom and dash around the middle part like you’re supposed to.

Yokuman Stage
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Not Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: I honestly don’t like this level (imo sorry). It’s messy and awkward af. EVERYTHING comes as a massive cluster from the right side forcing you to stick to the left so… sorry righteous! The majority of projectiles that come from the right are small balls that move diagonally up and down as they come towards you so good luck getting Danger Zone on that. Only thing I would recommend with this is No Dashing it. Even though it’s extremely messy and the end is a pain if you’re trying to not get hit once, it’s reasonably spaced out for you to move around without that much trouble.

Paper Dolls
Level Difficulty: Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Near Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: Kinda. Slight opening on the right which requires perfect adjusting at the last 1/3 of the level.

NOTE: Righteous is a bit of a pain in this level as everything comes at you from the right again but unlike Yokuman stage, projectiles move horizontally and is slow enough to react if you’re in the middle. Danger Zone can be dealt with as you play normally.

Level Tips and Recommendations 3

Commando Steve
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Not Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: The big daddy of Yokuman Stage. This has to be the hardest level in the entire list to get Righteous and S rank on. Pretty sure it’s near impossible to not get hit while on the right side of the screen for 50% of the time. You could either go for No Dash or Danger Zone (since you can’t do both at the same time lol) But I recommend sticking to the left and try memorize the level. Parts of the drop require you to go up or down, away from the middle due to appearing horizontal beams so watch out mainly for those when the time comes.

Houston
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Like Legacy, it’s wall after wall. Especially the last section where the incoming walls are impassible without dashing. The walls and smaller objects move at a slow pace so being on the right side, getting the Righteous bonus isn’t that much more difficult than being on the left. If you dash between all the walls, you should easily get Danger Zone.

Hype
Level Difficulty: Easy/Medium
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: Bottom left at the last part.

NOTE: Hype is an interesting one. You could either do No Dash and Righteous, or Danger Zone and Righteous. Depending on how well you know the level and especially the last part which is confusing af, you can choose to No Dash or strafe between the small, pink pallets that come from the center at the start of the level. Danger zone is annoying at times because these pink balls are tiny and because of your hit box, it’s kinda hard to see if your dashes count towards the bonus.

Tokyo Skies
Level Difficulty: Hard
Righteous: Not Recommended
No Dash: Near Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: The right side just a little bit down from the middle. You can stay there for the last, slow part at the end.

NOTE: An extremely painful level that requires a huge amount of focus. Attempting Righteous imo has always felt harder than chilling on the left side and No Dashing is a joke. By the time you’re done dashing around avoiding every little thing as possible since the old cheese spot is removed, you would’ve already gotten the 25 dashes you need for Danger Zone. Tbh, if you’re out to get more Beat Points, don’t do this level unless you just want to practice your focus and dash movements.

Dance of the Incognizant
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: Tight Positioning at the drop around the circles.

NOTE: This level SCREAMS NO DASH! Since everyone is now finding out how you can sit in the last parts of the level and do absolutely nothing and get No Dash. If you can do that then try No Dash and stay on the right side for the first half of the level where it’s a bit harder. Like I said, if you’re not going for Righteous with No Dash, then you might as well Dash and get Danger Zone along with Righteous because your other bonus with No Dash will just end up giving you the same amount of Beat Points.

FOX
Level Difficulty: Medium/Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Crazy people are crazy. Some people are crazy enough to No Dash the last part of this level. I am strongly against doing that if you’re wanting an S rank because you need some serious perfection if you were to nail an S and a No Dash. Anyways, both sides of the level seem to be of equal difficulty but you do end up strafing to the left and right due to the levels design. Also due to the enormous size of the pink projectiles you’ll encounter, you’ll most likely end up dashing through the sides of them and hopefully get yourself Danger Zone. For the last part of Fox, the most bs part. Quickly prepare yourself by getting as close as you can to the balls at the top or bottom of the screen. Make sure they won’t hit you and then strafe only left and right till the end.

Core
Level Difficulty: Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Not Recommended
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: Don’t even try to No Dash this for more Beat Points. I saw Andres try it, S rank it like a god. It’s extremely difficult to No Dash this level constantly and then again, you can’t even stay on the right side without dashing because you’re always forced to switch sides when the rotating beam comes into place halfway through the drop. For Danger Zone, I always move up and down the right beam before the two squares begin exploding small squares from all directions.

Crystal Tokyo
Level Difficulty: Easy
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Recommended
Danger Zone: Not Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: The first part is definitely the hardest to No Dash. Just move up and down on the left side. Afterwards, you should be able to stick to the right only moving back to the left a few times because of the circles. When it comes to the large circle in the last half of the level, try and move clockwise around the beams since they rotate anti-clockwise and they’ll force you back into the right side. Repeat this before the beams appear until the level ends with a spinning show and then you can just rest on the right side.

On the Run
Level Difficulty: Hard
Righteous: Recommended
No Dash: Near Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: As much as the level is already a monster like the middle section with the massive obelisks going up and down and the amount of ninja stars appearing out of the right side… Righteous makes it almost twice as hard with half a screen to stick to and with less reaction time, you might as well choose another level or stick to the left and get S ranks (hopefully). One thing I do in this level though is when the big spikes come, I stick to the top (precisely 1/3 of the screen) so the bottom spikes won’t be able to hit me. I then strafe up and down each time I move across a spike to avoid the stars. VVV

Mortal Kombat
Level Difficulty: Hard
Righteous: Not Recommended
No Dash: Pretty much Impossible
Danger Zone: Recommended
Cheese Spot: No

NOTE: You have to Dash, You can’t go to the right side, Danger Zone seems to be the only bonus out of the 3 that’s possible to get along with an S rank. Just go to the top left of the screen. I don’t recommend spamming when the flying men are ready to kick your *** three times. Dash in the corner and don’t move every time. By the time one comes off the right screen to smack you silly, dash then. Hopefully just a lil bit of timing and luck will be on your side. Also! If you’re playing with friends, let them come to you so when you’re the one surviving while they die, THAT’S ALREADY A SAVIOUR BONUS!!!

Last few Tips/Good Luck

In conclusion, Just Shapes and Beats is an amazing game with highly active and awesome developers. Note that things in this list like cheese spots and possibly some of the bonuses might change in the future.

Just some last few notes and tips:

1. You gotta spend some time and have patience. If you’re able to go by these tips by S ranking and getting the bonuses. You should be able to get around 40 beat points per round, 120-140 points per challenge completed and cover 1000 in just under an hour.

2. No Dash and Righteous OR Righteous and Danger Zone. Be careful and make sure you can achieve these while still getting an S Rank.

3. Practice EVERY level and be able to predict the next sections. Spam the Dash a few times and get used to the invincibility, the duration and be able to dash as soon as you’re able to after a previous dash.

4. Think about the All Star Bonus. (Everyone scored A rank or higher) If you think you’ve got a group of players/friends that are reasonably experienced and won’t die once, then there’s no point of going for either Righteous or Danger Zone as this will award you the same amount.

5. Put S rank before No Dash. If you feel like you’re in a tight situation where you’ll most likely not make it out, give up the bonus and escape without getting hit. You will lose that 10 bp bonus, but you will still receive another bonus and you get to keep your 20bp S rank (hopefully)

S > A rank + No Dash + Bonus(righteous) | 10 + 10 + 8 (28 bp)
S rank + Bonus(righteous, no longer No Dash) + Bonus | 20 + 8 + Bonus bp (>29 bp)

Apply this to any bonus. If you’re risking an S rank for a level that you’re not confident with getting Righteous in yet, back off. You’ll probably end up losing more than you’re working for.

6. Have fun. Even though it’s gonna get grindy and quite repetitive. You’re playing this game to have fun and you deserve to. Sometimes, if you’re attempting new things like a different path in the level, trying out a little trick or messing around like spazzing left and right in a level with another random person, eventually you’ll get to your goal before you know it!

  1. Mortal Kombat (Normal Mode) Cheese Spot
Play the level normally until the first fighter yells “Mortal Kombat”, and immediately begin to cash non-stop towards the upper left corner. This can be done the entire level and is the easiest way to S rank the level. This will not work in hardcore mode, as there is hazards on the sides.
