This guide features hints and walkthroughs for obtaining all of the Golden Mushrooms found throughout Kit’s Quest!
There are 2 Golden Mushrooms per level (including Fennecton, as well as Greenwood & Skyreach Mountain), often hidden in out-of-the-way spots. They belong to Queen Nelli, who gives you rewards as you return them. When there are only 3 remaining, she can also give you hints about where to find them.
It can be most rewarding to obtain the Golden Mushrooms with as little assistance as possible, for example by revealing just one hint at a time. But, nothing wrong with using the guide as much as you’d like when you’re feeling stuck!
Kit’s Quest Golden Mushrooms Guide
Fennecton
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): In Rüppell’s storeroom.
- Hint 2: Visit the Blanfords’ Den and enter the Fennecton Caves through a tunnel hidden behind a crate. Jump your way up to the highest pillar, where you’ll find Rüppell’s storeroom key. Return it to Rüppell, and then make your way across the storeroom’s shelves to the Golden Mushroom.
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Deep in the caves below the village.
- Hint 2: Once you’ve learned how to Slam, visit the Blanfords’ Den and enter the Fennecton Caves through a tunnel hidden behind a crate. Slam down through a boulder to reach another area of the caves, and then make your way across the platforms to the Golden Mushroom.
Greenwood & Skyreach Mountain
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): In this very room, right behind me!?
- Hint 2: Don’t miss checking behind Nelli’s throne!
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): At Skyreach Cliffs, above the second elevator’s highest point.
- Hint 2: The Golden Mushroom’s alcove is a bit too high to jump up to, but an ability mushroom can help.
- Hint 3: Using the Ice Mushroom near the second elevator’s lowest point, create an Ice Block on the elevator. Ride up along with it, and then jump off of it at the top to reach the Golden Mushroom!
Cascade Ravine
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): In a hollow, hidden behind a waterfall.
- Hint 2: Look behind the 2nd waterfall from the bottom of the ravine (near the eagle who teaches you about slamming).
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): In a high-up alcove behind a waterfall.
- Hint 2: Look behind the tallest waterfall, between two of the upper tunnels leading into the Ancient Grotto.
Flooded Ruins
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Atop an island surrounded by sheer cliffs.
- Hint 2: The Golden Mushroom is on the narrow island off to the left (when looking forward from the level’s entrance). You’ll need to use an ability mushroom to reach it, though.
- Hint 3: Grab the Hydrophobic Mushroom next to the Cliffside stump teleporter, teleport to Atop the Island, and bounce over to the Golden Mushroom’s island!
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Underwater, in the Shrine to the Water Serpent.
- Hint 2: You’ll need to use an ability mushroom.
- Hint 3: Once you’ve learned how to use Metal Mushrooms, visit the one on the beach, teleport to the Shrine to the Water Serpent, and explore underwater to find the Golden Mushroom!
Luminous Caverns
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): High up, just outside the Crystalline Grotto.
- Hint 2: Once you’ve learned how to Climb, make your way up the climbable walls until you reach the Golden Mushroom!
- Hint 3: It’s also possible to reach the Golden Mushroom without knowing how to Climb, with an achievement to be unlocked for doing so! Check out the Achievements guide for help with that.
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Underwater, in the Subterranean Well.
- Hint 2: You’ll need to use an ability mushroom.
- Hint 3: Once you’ve learned how to use Metal Mushrooms, visit one of them in the Abandoned Mine, teleport to the Subterranean Well, and sink underwater to the Golden Mushroom!
Great Oak Aerie
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Above one of the “A” gondola’s stations.
- Hint 2: You’ll need to use an ability mushroom.
- Hint 3: The Golden Tree has what you need.
- Hint 4: Make sure the “B” gondola’s parked next to the Stump on a Stump teleporter. Then, visit the Ice Mushroom near the Golden Tree’s stump teleporter, teleport to the Stump on a Stump, and place an Ice Block on the “B” gondola. Ride the “B” gondola to its other station, jump off the Ice Block to reach the nearby platform, and finally make your way around the tree to the Golden Mushroom!
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Above the big elevator’s highest stop.
- Hint 2: You’ll need to ride the elevator all the way up to Floor 5, much as you would to reach Dardurus (check out the Dragon Teeth guide for help with that). However, before triggering the “5” switch, get the elevator to a lower floor than you, and stand on the very top of the elevator. Then, once it reaches Floor 5, you’ll be right next to the Golden Mushroom’s alcove!
Enchanted Metalworks
Golden Mushroom 1
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): Above the metalworks entrance.
- Hint 2: The red hammers will need to end up inactive in order to get past the final pair of spinning platforms in front of the Golden Mushroom. Though, you’ll probably want them active in order to reach the previous platform in the first place.
- Hint 3: You’ll need to use an ability mushroom.
- Hint 4: The Ventilation Room has what you need.
- Hint 5: Once you’ve learned how to use Sticky Spore Mushrooms, visit the one in the Ventilation Room, teleport to the Metalworks Entrance, and place a spore on the red hammer switch. With the red hammers active, make your way up to the platform above the switch. Finally, detonate the spore to deactivate the hammers, and jump across to the Golden Mushroom!
Golden Mushroom 2
- Hint 1 (from Nelli): In a golden pipe in the Iron Tower.
- Hint 2: You’ll need to enter through the golden pipe on the exterior of the Iron Tower.
- Hint 3: You’ll need to reach the Iron Tower’s roof, just as you would to reach Mech-Arachnor (check out the Dragon Teeth guide for help with that). After doing so, drop down to the golden pipe on the far side of the tower.
