You’re trying to recruit an army with some basic archers and swordsmen, but all of a sudden your enemy comes at you with Templar Knights! How did they get these powerful units and why can’t you?

Wonder no more, since this guide will detail where you can find all these special units and how much they cost.

What is a special unit? Basically, a unit that’s only available for certain kingdoms or provinces. There isn’t yet a good tool in-game to let you see which provinces have these units available unfortunately, so you have to manually scroll through each province looking to see what’s available. But you can’t do this with enemy provinces so there’s no way to know where a unit can be recruited if it’s not available to you.

Special Units List

The following table lists the special units in KoH2:Sovereign plus the costs to recruit them. Special units can only be recruited in certain provinces, which are specified further below in another section.

Where to Recruit Them

The table below shows the Kingdoms and Provinces where each special unit may be recruited. Note that some kingdoms must be unlocked through a Unite Quest, such as Bulgarian Empire.

Some units are only available in certain periods. If this is the case, the kingdom or province will have the following letters next to its name:

E – Early
M – Mid
L – Late

Table is broken up into two sections, “A-M” and “N-Z” to avoid character length limit.
