Lingo 2: Golden Smilies Walkthrough Guide

This guide explains how to unlock each area with a golden smiley in Lingo 2 using various hints.

Lingo 2: Golden Smilies Walkthrough Guide

Each smiley will have 1-3 hints about its location and method of obtainment, increasing in difficulty. If both are very self-explanatory, no hints will be provided.

Butterfly Room

There are 2(?) means of accessing this room, so the access portion of the hints will be divided for both. In both cases, this room is accessed through a painting of a butterfly, so you’ll know it when you see it.

Access #1 Hints:
Light hint: Behind a brown control center door
Reveal: Located in The Tree, through a hallway on the ground floor.

Access #2 Hints:
Light Hint: Located by where you pick up a Cyan letter
Medium Hint: Said Cyan letter is a rarely used one
Reveal: The butterfly painting is near Cyan Q

(Obtainment of this smiley really revolves only around a specific symbol that is found in barely any other rooms in the game, so the hints here will be purely regarding the symbol. The symbol is the only real puzzle for this smiley’s obtainment).

Obtainment Hints:
Light Hint: The symbol involves conceptualization
Medium Hint: The solution will be entirely different from the prompt.
Reveal: The symbol indicates a conceptual change in the prompt.

The Sirenic

“What? That’s not even a real word!”

Access Hints:
Light Hint: This smiley’s room is accessed from one of the game’s hubs
Medium Hint: This smiley’s room is accessed from The Plaza
Reveal: This smiley’s room is through one of the portals on the edge of The Plaza, through the one with the puzzle that solves to “Sirenic”

Assuming you know what all the game’s symbols means, you shouldn’t have a problem solving this room besides perhaps needing a hint for a specific puzzle, as no new symbols are introduced.

The Invisible

Access Hints:
Light Hint: It involves an area you’ve already completed, but with some alternate solutions.
Medium Hint: The room you’re looking for is the compass room in The Great, where you inputted four solutions per puzzle set in a compass-like orientation. Once you have the correct alt solutions, the entrance opens somewhere in The Great that should be obvious.
Reveal: The solutions are “eyes” and “tell,” making the circuit say “the eyes tell lies.” This opens up a portal in the red eye in the outside segment of The Great.

Obtainment Hints:
It’s a maze with invisible walls. Idk what to tell you. Good luck!

The Sun Temple

The name kinda spoils where this is already, but if you forgot: it’s through The Unkempt (rhyme room) where you got the purple ending.

Obtainment Hints:
Light Hint: It has to do with alternate solutions
Medium Hint: Start with the first panel, then go from there.
Reveal: Fill in the opposite to every prompt for each panel (although solstice isn’t really the opposite of equinox).

The Symbolic

Maybe the best room in the game?

Access Hints:
Light hint: It’s accessed through one of the game’s hubs
Medium hint: It’s accessed through The Plaza
Reveal: It’s through the portal on the Plaza’s edge marked by the panel that solves to “symbolic.”

The room is basically one huge tutorial for the weird two boxes symbol. The purpose of this guide isn’t to teach symbols (besides the butterfly one), so you should already have what you need to solve everything. Do your tutorial and claim your prize.

The Repetitive

This one is incredibly self explanatory. You’ve definitely been here before, but if you need reminding it’s Souvey’s jumpscare room where you get Cyan H. Just solve every puzzle and you’ll get your smiley through the red door.

Lingo 2 Golden Smilies Walkthrough Guide

The Plaza

Another incredibly self-explanatory one, and you definitely know where The Plaza is. Just solve every puzzle in the main building and your smiley will pop right out in the center.

The Hive

Access Hints:
Light Hint: It’s located in Daedalus, near one of the final areas you’ll unlock.
Medium Hint: It’s slightly out of sight, you’ll need to do some jumping/falling to get to it.
Reveal: It’s accessed from jumping into The Castle’s moat, then finding the hole in the wall (not the blue room).

This smiley is obtained simply by solving each puzzle in the area. They’re all “?” puzzles, so it can be a bit tricky, but the theme to all of them (obviously) is bees/insects.

The Double Sided

The WORST room in the game.

Access Hints:
Light Hint: It’s accessed through a side room you’ve probably been to many times
Medium Hint: It’s accessed through a room that led you to 2 Cyan letters and 1 purple one.
Reveal: It’s (yet again) accessed through the Dark Room, one of the new hallways that appear randomly.

This Smiley’s obtainment is truly hellish, and there’s nothing to hint at and no real way to help someone complete it. The method is obvious as soon as you enter the room. Good luck and know that you’ll only have to do it once.

(Screenshot of smiley location omitted because I am NOT going all the way back through there).

The Unyielding

You’ve definitely been to this area before. If you need reminding, it’s the one with all the color name panels, 3×3 letter adding panel sets, and with the giant smiley on a yellow pedestal.

Obtainment is also not too tricky besides the last two panels. The method before that is just to wander around until you find every panel, unfortunately.

For the last two:
Light Hint: The pedestals with letters on them matter
Medium Hint: The colors and letters both matter
Reveal: For “Red Eyes” input an anagram of the letters on red pedestals, and vice versa for “Blue Eyes.”

The Relentless

Access Hints:
Light Hint: It’s accessed from the control center
Medium Hint: It’s accessed in the same manner you got to The Ancient (sphinx)
Reveal: Each “return” solution from the control center hallway inputted into the 4 boxes (besides “part”) opens a path to The Relentless.

Obtainment Hints:
Light Hint: Be relentless.
Reveal: Keep re-entering the area with each possible input, it gives you different letters to solve the puzzles with. You’ll have them all right eventually, and the smiley will unlock.

The Wise

Can’t believe this room gives a smiley :crying-emoji: :laughing-emoji:

This room technically has multiple access points, but they’re all very closely tied to the same panel.

Access Hints:
Light Hint: The hint for this one is actually in game, it’s a smiley panel in the control center
Medium Hint: You need to input that panel’s solution as an alt solution to an early game panel.
Reveal: Input “LINK” into the panel in The Entry with the prompt “INK”

When this ^ is done, do NOT enter any paintings until you see the blue and orange one: that leads to the smiley. The other paths allow you to open doors that lead to rooms that lead to other entrances to the smiley. The images this time are only of the path to the room.

Obtainment Hints:
Light Hint: If you figure out the theme to this room it becomes incredibly easy.
Medium Hint: You do also need to solve both solutions in the alt panel.
Reveal: The theme is Zelda games (hence, Link.) All the pairs of panels are major Zelda titles. Use google if you have to. For the alt one, there are two titles that start the same way.

The Tenacious

This one is definitely the hardest smiley, it’s on ending level in my opinion.
There are four access points to this area, all of which result from solving a puzzle. Therefore, the access and obtainments are the same. Once all four puzzles are solved, the smiley unlocks.

Puzzle #1:
Light Hint: The area of the puzzle is the hedge maze in Daedalus with the tower in the middle.
Medium Hint: Look closer at the panels in the hedge maze, they spell out a message.
Reveal: The message is “Solve us in order then jump down the tower.” Do that.

Puzzle #2:
Light Hint: This puzzle involves a code and a terminal to input it, which are both in Daedalus.
Medium Hint: The terminal is in the Castle’s basement; the code is in a similar looking room.
Reveal: The code is “2 0 5 9”. Input those in letter format into the four panels to solve this part.

Puzzle #3:
Light Hint: This puzzle involves the room with 4 paintings in Daedalus of what may seem to be nonsense.
Medium Hint: They aren’t nonsense, they each say something.
Reveal: Each painting consists of letters that spell out “1,2,3,4” as “won, too, 3, for.” Jump in each painting in order, teleporting back to the start of Daedalus is allowed.

Puzzle #4:
Light Hint: This puzzle is located by the salmon cube/terminal thing in Daedalus, which spells out the clue. The terminal for the answer is in the next door over.
Medium Hint: The clue is “Blue ending flowers, forward come first.” Go to the blue ending and look at the flowers.

Reveal: That still might not be enough, it wasn’t for me, so examine the orientations of the flowers. Only two sets of them have “forward” ones coming first, which I guess means bottom left. Input the colors in order. (Red, yellow, purple, green).
