Locomoto: Tools Guide | How to Get All Tools

All the tools you will need in Locomoto and how to get them.

Starter Kit

These three tools—hammer, mop, and recycling bag—are automatically added to your inventory once you board the train at the very beginning of the game. Just follow Finley’s instructions during the introduction, and you’ll receive them as part of your starter kit.

Axe

The axe is the first major tool you’ll pick up. Take the train from Barrenpyre to Marigold Market, then continue on to Evergreen Cross, and finally to Peteny. There, you’ll meet Katja, who’s in the mood for a sandwich. Help her out—regardless of what ingredients you use—and she’ll reward you with the axe for your efforts.

Fishing Rod

Head to the beach area in Barrenpyre and look for Loretta. She’s lost her lure and needs your help finding it. Once you locate it and exhaust her dialogue, continue progressing through the main quest—specifically the part where you escort Liam to the doctor and return to warn the town about the smog. After that, speak with Loretta again. She’ll give you the “Fishing for Something” quest. Complete it, and she’ll hand over the fishing rod.

Shovel

To get your hands on the shovel, you’ll first need to unlock the train route from Trough to Newgale Station by completing a few main quests. Once the path is clear, ride the train to Pickaxe Point and talk to Tonya. She’ll have a quest for you involving a fence and some wood delivery. Finish her task, and she’ll thank you by giving you a shovel.

Pickaxe

The pickaxe takes the longest to acquire. Progress through the main story until you reach the quest called The One Year Collapse. During this quest, you’ll be asked to visit Horst in Hammerweld Station to collect some pickaxes. He’ll need iron before he can hand them over, and he’ll lend you a pickaxe of your own to help gather it.

Note: There may be a way to get the shovel from Aya after cleaning the town as I saw someone on the discussion mention it, but I haven’t tested it yet.
