Moonstone Island Starting Week and Beyond

This is how I started the game on Week 1 and beyond.

Moonstone Island Starting Week and Beyond

Hi all,

This is my first every guide – I hope this helps someone else out there, but please note that there is no “right” way to play the game. So please follow this guide as closely or as loosely as you win.

My quick tips are below:

  • I personally like to start the game and harvest vegetation as I go (flowers, water plants, etc.) My quick tip here is to cut down about 4 of each plant before then pulling them up. This gives 2 seeds per cut down plant so you can then build a garden ready for making more plants. In the first few days I tend to plant items that will give me stamina and/or my Spirits HP.
  • As soon as I start to talk to the villagers I start to ask people on dates and giving them gifts. I like to build up the relationships with each, but have not yet found this to have any impact on the game play. I like to get the relationships built up early on as I like to spend the later part of the game battling my Spirits.
  • I use the sell crate for random items such as Treasure Maps, but a lot of items can be sold at vendors (e.g. seeds, jewels) and they sell at a 1.5x rate which makes a bit of money quicker.
  • Buying seeds at the general store is only worth it early on. I buy LOTS of lilypads early on as these are beneficial while running round the islands levelling and building my team. However, when I harvest my lilypads I always make sure to pluck half and scythe half – that way I make back the same amount of seeds and do this again until Spring is over.

Day 1

Your choice whether your complete the training or not – if you do, you will be shown some basics and get to choose your first Spirit. If not, you will cut straight to crashing on the island with a Spirit from the starting 3 (you would have selected one from had you done the training).

You will crash land on the island you will make a home for yourself. As soon as you crash, find your hammer and start mining rocks. This allows you to get a head start on the first quest you will receive from Ossono. If you do not find your axe/tent etc. Ossono will give these back to you when you wake up.

Day 2

Talk to Ossono and take the quest. Head North so you can place your tent. Clear an area by cutting down trees, cutting grass and mining rocks (this helps toward Ossono’s quest). I typically chose somewhere close to the stairs so I can hit the town straight away when waking up. Using the wood and stone you have collected craft the Selling Box, sell the required stone for Ossono’s quest. Then, using the grass, craft 3 fabric and make the balloon ready for heading off the island later on.

Starting Week and Beyond

Find the fountain (near the Carpenter) and touch it EVERY day. The first time you will collect the whistle which allows you to come back to the island 1 time per day, every day after this you will receive a random gift – but only if you touch the fountain.

Starting Week and Beyond

Press on the arch that you can get to in the lower part of the map and claim a card ready for your Spirit.

Starting Week and Beyond

You will also want to spend Day 1 talking to as many villagers as possible, this will build toward another quest you will receive.

At 8PM it will get dark and that is the best time to search the island for moonstones as they glow and are more obvious!

Starting Week and Beyond

I try to waste all my stamina before going to bed by cutting trees, cutting grass and mining stone. Just make sure you are in bed before 2am.

Day 3

If you have not done so already, make sure you have spoken to all the villagers as these will give you some starting quests.

Go and mine some of the big rocks near your home until you find a ladder to go underground into a mine. This is where we will collect ore for the Ferra quest, find chests and low level Spirits to battle.

Starting Week and Beyond

At this point, I focus on mining the copper ore rocks as these will be used to smelt into bars and upgrade the tools. Iron is great to mine too, but it does not go anywhere so you can do that later on when it becomes a requirement.

Starting Week and Beyond

In each mine there are typically some chests and some Spirits. On the home island, the spirits are low level (the ones I have encountered so far). You can try to flee the battle if you want, but the monster will still be there and you will have to try and run away without being caught!

If you chose to fight the battle and level up, remember to go into your Medallion and select a card for your Spirit.

Starting Week and Beyond

If you mine the required amount needed for Ferra’s quest – go and sell this at the Smithy. Otherwise, continue to mine ore and any other material (such as wood, grass and stone) until your stamina runs out.

NOT ESSENTIAL – I tend to go to the beach and buy a fishing rod. This helps to fulfil a quest and make some money.

Remember to collect your gift from the fountain and to press it again ready for tomorrow!

Day 4

I spend day 4 working on mining ores for crafting the required bits for Ferra’s quest and also so I can start to craft the items I will need to progress later on.

Use the balloon for travel you can get the arch in the upper right-hand side of your home island. If you do not want to use the balloon it is possible to build a bridge across, but I find this a water of resources as it is very simple to use a balloon.

Starting Week and Beyond

Day 5 and Day 6

Exploring off the island! Make sure you have the whistle from the fountain I spoke about on Day 1.

So you want to grab your balloon you created and go to any side of your island and jump…

Locate on your map a nearby island and head toward it. Steering the balloon is no easy task – so try and get a good position before jumping off your home island.

Starting Week and Beyond

When you touch down on an island, check the upper left-hand corner to see if the island is okay to be on. You will also get a message in the lower right-hand corner when you land on an island where the Spirit population is a lot higher then your own.

An island at the beginning that looks similar to the below is okay to be on – I think the yellow nodes mean that the island Spirit level goes up to 5 – but this is just a guess.

Remember that you are trying to tame a level 5 (or higher) spirit for Zed. You do not need to have space in your team to complete this – taming a level 5 successfully and then having to let them go because you have no space for them also works.

Starting Week and Beyond

Explore this new island and battle away with other spirits. Make sure you are levelling up your own spirit and, should you want to, tame other spirits to join your team. Remember, you can only have 3 in a team and unlocking/creating a spirit barn does not happen very quickly! I personally like to have Fluffox join my team early on (with them following me) as they have an ability that: “Increases chances of successfully chatting, flirting and joking.”

Starting Week and Beyond

When you are done on the island and want to head home, blow your whistle and you will be transported back to your home island.

Day 7

Today is the day we explore the dungeon – if you have levelled your Spirit and feel ready then this should be okay. The Guardian at the end can be frustrating to beat as it keep upping it’s armour every round it continues.

Firstly, enter the dungeon and travel off to the right. You will encounter some traps that, if hit, you lose stamina. It’s pretty easy to run through and you just have to keep following it round.

Starting Week and Beyond

Once you reach your first teleportation device, walk onto it and you will be transported to the other side of an area with multiple teleportation devices. You can either, continue straight here to avoid or follow the steps in the picture and grab the box.

Starting Week and Beyond

Once you are back on the otherwise of the area with the multiple teleportation devices, continue forward. You will encounter another area and again, you can either avoid and continue straight or walk onto the teleportation pad available and go through (it’s a liner system). At this point, if you have not already you could try to tame one/both of the Spirits in this section to make a bigger team ready for the Guardian.

Starting Week and Beyond

After collecting the box in the area, continue following the standard route until you reach the Guardian. You cannot flee this battle, so be prepared. Use lilypads to keep HP up for your Spirit(s) and try and bring down the armour before attacking to increase the damage you create each turn.

Good luck!

Once you have finished your battle, collected your chest of goodies and touched the tree to gain some permanent stamina – you can continue on with the game! Spread your wings and fly the skies to other islands, build your dream team for battle and simply enjoy life on Moonstone Island.
