How to win Tablut gambling every time

Hello! Money is extremely important in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, so have you ever wished that there was a fast and cheesy method to get more money with virtually no risk and without much effort?

Other Mount & Blade II Bannerlord Guides:

There just so happens that Tablut is an extremely imbalanced tavern game, unless you make a mistake you can’t lose it even against the Hard difficulty AI! And you can bet up to 500 gold. Please be aware that this is an inherent imbalance in the way Tablut is designed rather than a game exploit, so after knowing this method it might ruin your experience playing Tablut in the future.

Tablut overview

Tablut is a game that can be found in certain taverns in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, you can also play this game against certain nobles if you visit them in their keeps.

The Winning Strategy

Now that we know how to play Tablut, let me tell you how to win.

The very first thing we will do is make sure to always play as Defenders rather than Attackers.

All you need to do is follow these 4 priorities from top to bottom when you decide which move to make.

1. Never move the king!

Even though the win condition for defenders is to move the king to the edge, the table is best defended while the king is in the middle. We will move the king to the edge to end the game, but only after we’ve removed enough enemy pawns to make that a sure victory.

2. If you can take an enemy pawn, do it!

Unless you have made a mistake early, you should always be able to take the enemy pawn risk-free, because we never allowed the enemy to get into an advantageous position. So make sure to take an enemy pawn if you can, this is very important!

3. If your pawns are out of position compared to where they started and you can’t take an enemy pawn, move your pawns back to where they started!

The starting position is incredibly powerful. You have full control over the center 5×5 tiles of the board. From the starting position you can immediately take an enemy pawn if it gets moved next to yours, no matter which tile it gets moved to!

4. If you can’t take an enemy pawn, and you are in the starting position, make the safest move possible.

Try to find a place where you can move your pawn safely, we’re only trying to stall for time and force the enemy to move into another position where we can capture his pawn. Next turn, follow these priorities again and if you can’t take an enemy pawn, move the pawn you just moved back into the starting position!

Victory!
Once the enemy is down to around 6 pawns, it should be extremely easy to break out and move the king towards one of the enemies weakest sides of the board. As soon as the king touches an edge tile you have won and doubled the money you bet! Congratulations!

I would suggest trying this out with a smaller bet to start with, it is still possible to lose if you make a mistake and don’t follow these priorities.
