Red Dead Redemption 2 – Archeology for Beginners Walkthrough

Archeology for Beginners

Archeology for Beginners is one of the main missions available in Red Dead Redemption 2. Arthur visits Rains Fall in Wapiti. Then, he decides to go to the Native Americans’ sacred place.

How to get a gold medal in Archeology for Beginners?

  • Recover the relics without being detected – This has been described in our walkthrough.
  • Recover the relics within 1 minute and 30 seconds – A difficult task. You have to reach the camp fast and recover the relics without making any mistakes.

To start this mission, head north to the Wapiti Indian Reservation, and enter the tent marked on your map to speak with Rains Fall.

He tells Arthur the colonel has exacted revenge by having his men assault two women. They have a conversation about death, glory, and respect; and Dutch and Eagle Flies.

When you leave the tent, Captain Monroe appears to say there isn’t good news from the mayor. The three of you leave on horse back.

Captain Monroe will say he requests help from someone outside of the tribe, to not stir up more trouble. If you choose to help, your honor will go up.

The captain goes on his way, but you continue to follow Rains Fall so he can find some herbs to give you for your cough.

You’ll come across a pack of wolves feasting on a horse. Don’t shoot – there’s no need to.

After, you’ll be able to chat with Rains Fall about Dutch or Eagle Flies. But, before he can respond, you’ll find some of the plants he needs.

You don’t have to get off your horse. He’ll pick the plant himself. English Mace. After he gets them, and returns to his horse, you’ll continue your conversation.

The next time you can ask a question, you can bring up Arthur’s son, Isaac.

Again, Rains Fall will put your conversation on hold to collect more herbs. He tells you to mix the two together to keep your strength up.

When you’re done, follow him on horseback. Soon, you’ll come across a teepee that has been burnt. Rains Fall exclaims the Chanupa, a ceremonial pipe, is gone.

Use Eagle Sense by pressing in both sticks to find clues. After finding enough, Rains Fall will turn into a yellow dot in your mini map. Approach him to notice an army camp.

When looking at them with binoculars, you can tell they’re a bit drunk. Arthur offers to recover the sacred relics for Rains Falls.

Now head down the mountain and head to camp. You can see where the enemies are on your map.

The relics are on the floor, behind the yellow chair at the fire place, next to a chest you can loot.

Gold Medal Requirement:

  • You must Recover the relics without being detected, in under 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  • Remember you can stealth knock out with circle/b, but you need to do so before anyone sees you.

After recovering the relics, return to Rains Fall. If you hurt anyone – even if it was just knocking them out, or tying them up – Rains Fall will express regret.

Now it’s time to meet up with John Marston at the dynamite carriage under Bacchus Bridge in The Bridge to Nowhere.
