Gainful Employment is one of the main missions in Red Dead Redemption 2. John goes to Valentine – he wants to help Sadie catch a wanted criminal.
How to get a gold medal in Gainful Employment?
- After arriving in Strawberry, locate the bounty within 30 seconds – Go straight to the building presented in the walkthrough, and then go to the room no. 3.
- After mounting your horse, catch and hogtie the bounty within 1 minute and 15 seconds – Cut the man off and catch with your lasso.
To start this mission, head to Valentine and meet with Sadie Adler in the Saloon there. Enter, and a cutscene will start.
She’s already getting into trouble, and stabs a man in his hand. After chatting for a bit, Sadie asks John if he’s interested in bounties.
It’s legal, so he agrees to assist her with one in Strawberry. An accountant from New York is on the run. Get on your horse and follow her to Strawberry.
She has some news. Sadie thinks they’ve heard of Micah Bell, and she mentions what they said they’d do if they ever found him.
After a while, a cutscene will start of them finishing their travels. You’re looking for Nathan Kirk, a bald, 45. Ask around town for him, but if you want to go straight to him, head to the welcome center, marked yellow on this map.
Gold Medal Requirement:
- After arriving in Strawberry, locate the bounty within 30 seconds. You should go straight to the welcome center, a hotel, and go upstairs to room 3.
After asking around, you’ll eventually find yourself at the welcome center, a hotel. The man there tells you Mr. Kirk is charming, but that he’s up in room three.
Head upstairs and interact with room three. John will harass Mr. Kirk through the door, and the man will jump out the window to get away. Jump on your horse from the window and ride after him with Sadie.
Remember, you need to catch him alive, so equip your lasso.
Gold Medal Checklist:
- After mounting your horse, catch and hogtie the bounty within 1 minute 15 seconds.
He makes a right, and runs into the wilderness. Don’t ride too far off the road (or his path, when he’s in the wilderness), or you’ll fail the mission.
Eventually, his horse will start to tire, and you can catch him with your lasso and hogtie him.
