Goodbye, Dear Friend
Goodbye, Dear Friend is one of the main missions available in Red Dead Redemption 2. Colm O’Driscoll is in prison. Sadie, Arthur, and Dutch go to Saint Denis to see the execution.15
How to get a gold medal in Goodbye, Dear Friend?
- Find Colm’s back up within 45 seconds – Listen to the conversation between bandits. Go up the stairs, reach another floor, walk on the rooftop, and find the hostile sniper.
- Get 8 headshots with a long scoped rifle – Remember that you can always use the Dead Eye.
- Complete within 6 minutes and 30 seconds – A typical challenge – you need to be fast and complete the mission within the time limit.
Talk to Sadie Adler in Saint Denis to start this RDR2 mission. You’ll find her, and Dutch van der Lind drinking inside the saloon. They have a plan to see Colm O’Driscoll finally hang.
They’re going to do so in disguise. Once you’re dressed, follow the two through the back alleys of the city to get to your destination… the hanging.
You’ll know you’ve arrived when you reach a crowd in front of a stage, complete with pre-tied nooses – the gallows.
Dutch’ll notice a few men that belong to the O’driscolls gang. After watching them point and make gestures, you figure out where to go to find out more.
Arthur and Dutch tell Sadie to stay put. Now Follow Dutch through the streets to find more O’driscolls in a back alley, discussing the plan.
They have a guy on the roof who’s going to start shooting to cause panic – and that’s when they’ll swoop in to save Colm. You’re not going to let that happen.
Follow Dutch to a ladder, and climb up.
Gold Medal Checklist:
- Find Colm’s back-up on the roof within 45 seconds – to do so, just run fast.
Make your way to the right, up the stairs, and again, make a right onto the roof. Look for the yellow marks on your minimap for where to go.
Jump down when you see the rifle. A man will come from the door on the left and attack you. Take him out.
Now, look on from the roof. Sadie and Dutch will put a knife to the throats of the two O’Driscolls in the crowd.
You’ll see Colm’s face fall with fear and dread as soon as he notices those two, as well as Arthur on the roof. He is, indeed, hanged.
As soon as he is, Sadie slits the O’Driscoll’s throat and promptly shoots the other. She really needed this revenge.
Help them out by shooting more O’Driscolls from the roof.
Gold Medal Requirement:
- Get 8 headshots with a long scoped rifle here. Use Dead Eye when you can to help.
Once you’ve killed enough of them (Press R2 to reload if you need to) a cutscene will play of Sadie and Dutch getting away in a wagon, and of Arthur discarding his disguise and returning to camp.
When he gets back, he gets a letter from Mary, his long lost love. That’s the end of this mission.
