Remnant 2 Ashen Wasteland Walkthrough +Cancer Boss Fight Guide (Set of items, ring, melee weapon, handgun, armor).
Remnant 2 Ashen Wasteland Walkthrough
When you arrive in the Ashen Wasteland, go down the first building using the huge root to the side to get to the highway. From there, make your way down to the main road and clear the area of all enemies before heading to the left side of the map.
There will be a small hole you can crouch and enter that’ll take you to a dilapidated building. Enemies will spawn as soon as you enter, so get rid of them quickly to loot the area safely. There are a few items you can find here:
Reaping Stone (Ring): Go up the ramp to the left and jump across to the other side. From there, jump down the hole in the floor, and the ring will be at the end of that path.
Steel Katana (Melee Weapon) & Dendroid Set (Armor): Repeat the steps above but don’t jump down the hole-instead, go towards the end of that platform and jump towards the concrete column next to the entrance. Finally, go outside the building, and you’ll see the loot below you.
Once you have finished looting that building, find a wrecked truck above a crater.
Next to this truck should be a massive root that reaches the highway above; climb up, then drop below unto the cargo. In that crater mentioned previously, you’ll find the Hellfire (Handgun) next to a pile of rubble.
Continue to the next area until you find the first World Shard. In that same building, find a hole in the floor in one of the rooms and drop down to grab the Resonating Heart (Relic).
Before going towards the next area, there will be a small hole in the wall containing Zania’s Malice (Ring).
Shortly after that World Shard, you’ll run into a fog door—don’t enter it just yet; look for an opening behind that room to find a Tome of Knowledge that you can get by crouching.
The fog door will lead you to a railyard. Here you’ll face a horde of various Root enemies; try to clear them from where you enter. If you head towards the middle of the railyard, more enemies will spawn-including a Root Shade. It will be easier to deal with the elite enemy without the hassle of the lesser mobs. Completing the horde event will net you the Handling trait.
Before heading towards the second World Shard, look for an open train cargo in the left corner of the area. Here you’ll find the Haymaker’s Ring.
Not far from that second World Shard, you’ll find the Ankh of Power (Amulet) inside a room at the back of the building. Continue down the sewer until you reach a spiral path full of water—there will be an opening to a maintenance room that contains the Dying Ember (Ring).
The following road will be a straight slope down to the last World Shard of the zone. This shard functions as the checkpoint for the first boss of this world – Cancer.
Cancer Boss Fight Guide
Weak Spot: Back
Cancer is the first Root entity you have to face in this world. The arena for this fight is wide open due to how massive the AOE is for most of Cancer’s moveset.
From the beginning of the fight, Cancer will utilize its root tendrils from afar to limit your space with barriers. Using the now limited room, Cancer usually follows the root tendrils with a lunge three-hit melee combo-dodge to either side and keep an eye on the boss.
A lot of its attacks are telegraphed by head movement. For example, Cancer will look to the ground before lunging at you or look up to do its AOE root tendrils.
After 50% hp, it will glitch out, moving fast toward you.
The first attack is a glitch feint to fake you out; you’ll want to dodge the melee hits after that attack.
Sometimes, the boss will jump back toward the back of the arena, causing a shockwave that covers the entire ground. Time your dodge accordingly.
The best opening to freely attack it is after its headbutt lunge-this move will cause Cancer to get stuck in the ground. Use this opportunity to heal as well, if necessary.
Though its weak spot is hard to hit for most of the fight, its chest and head are excellent areas to aim for, as those will still take standard damage.
Unique Reward: Necrocyte Strand = Defrag (Weapon Mod).
