Risk of Rain 2: Lunar Coins & Gold Farming

The classic multiplayer roguelike, Risk of Rain, returns with an extra dimension and more challenging action. No run will ever be the same with randomized stages, enemies, bosses, and items. Play solo, or team up with up to four friends to fight your way through hordes of monsters, unlock new loot, and find a way to escape the planet.

With each run, you’ll learn the patterns of your foes, and even the longest odds can be overcome with enough skill. A unique scaling system means both you and your foes limitlessly increase in power over the course of a game–what once was a bossfight will in time become a common enemy.

Other Risk of Rain 2 Guides:

Myriad survivors, items, enemies, and bosses return to Risk 2, and many new ones are joining the fight. Brand new survivors like the Artificer and MUL-T debut alongside classic survivors such as the Engineer, Huntress, and-of course-the Commando. With over 75 items to unlock and exploit, each run will keep you cleverly strategizing your way out of sticky situations.

Lunar Coins

There aren’t yet many ways to farm the Lunar Coins but what has been concluded is that they are randomly generated drops after you kill enemies.

After you defeat your enemy, they will appear over the enemy as Silver Coins. It is not necessary that you will find them as they are random, but when you do, quickly collect them and get back on your journey.

Lunar Coins in Risk of Rain 2 are a rare drop, so players can’t expect to earn them at a rapid pace. Instead they will need to kill enemies and hope that a Lunar Coin drops. But while most items will disappear upon death in Risk of Rain 2, like in most roguelike games, Lunar Coins are tied to a player’s account. So players can continue to complete runs in Risk of Rain and earn Lunar Coins without worry about losing them.

What Do Lunar Coins Buy?
Once players have some Lunar Coins they can spend them at the Lunar Planets to receive a random item. However, Risk of Rain 2 pros recommend that players hold on to their Lunar Coins for a while since 10 of them are necessary to unlock the character Artificer.

While playing through Risk of Rain 2, players will come across a Shrine of Newt, which asks for 1 Lunar Coin. By giving the Shrine of Newt 1 Lunar Coin, players will unlock a portal to the Bazaar at the end of the level. At the Risk of Rain 2 Bazaar, players will able to spend their Lunar Coins on other items, with 10 Lunar Coins unlocking Artificer.

Lunar Plant
During the game, we also came across some Lunar Plants. Giving them a Lunar Coin bestows you with a new item but since we do not have more information on this, we’d suggest you hold on and only buy the Mage.

Gold Farming

There are different ways to farm gold in Risk of Rain 2. You will be earning gold throughout the runs by doing different activities. You can also earn gold by opening up the barrels dotted around your level.

Sometimes, when you defeat your enemies, they drop off some gold for you. There is a way to farm some easy gold by using the Blood Shrine.

Using the Blood Shrine is a bit riskier if enemies surround you as the Blood Shrine has an effect on your HP and you do not want to be vulnerable when you are fighting with the enemies but using the shrine is a very quick method to earn the gold in RoR2.

Blood Shrine Gold Farming
Almost in each level, you will find a Blood Shrine. The Blood Shrine will be dotted on your map and on getting close to it; it will convert into red symbols.

You have to get closer to it and it will offer you gold but in exchange for a percentage of your health.

You can use a Blood Shrine for exactly three times in each run. The first time you use it, it will suck up half of your health that is 50%. The next time it will ask for 75% of your HP and the third time, it will take up to 93% of your HP.

With this higher percentage of taking your HP, it will also offer you a higher amount of gold each time.

The reason why you should use these Blood Shrines when totally in an isolated ground away from the enemies is that you will be very weak, out of health, and only a few attacks of the enemies will take you down.

When you use the Blood Shrine, it will be risky but totally worth it but because it is the quickest way to earn gold and get your hand on those crates which will provide you with weapons.

It is recommended that you do use this method whenever possible.
