Super Auto Pets Tier List: Best Pets and Food (v0.1.0)

A list of each Animal and Food from the Standard Pack and all Expansions including their effects.
This guide is up to date as of Version 0.1.0 of the game’s release.

Large Balance Patch Incoming

In the test build of the game released on 11/23/21, there are significant balance changes that may or may not make it into the live game. Until they are finalized and actually released, I will not be making any changes to the guide. Thanks for understanding 🙂

Introduction

Welcome to my guide. My goal with this guide is to provide an easily accessible resource that shows each Animal’s stats and some notes as to how unclear interactions between Animals and Food play out. Below, I will put each Animal and Food in their respective pack, then their respective tier, then alphabetically from there.

By default, players using the Standard Pack will not be matched with players using the first Expansion Pack and vice versa. However, following an update, players can choose whether they would like to be matched with players using their own pack or all packs.

Animals’ stats will be displayed as they are in-game, meaning 1/2 would be 1 Attack and 2 Health.

Punctuation inconsistencies in the animals’ descriptions are intentional, as that is the way that they appear in-game.

Tiers Explained

Each Animal and Food in Super Auto Pets has a tier associated with it, which is represented by the number of pips on the dice above their head.

Different tiers of Animals and Food will appear as you progress through turns.

  • On turns 1-2, tier 1’s are available through the shop.
  • On turns 3-4, tier 1’s and 2’s are available through the shop.
  • On turns 5-6, tier 1’s, 2’s and 3’s are available through the shop.
  • On turns 7-8, tier 1’s, 2’s, 3’s and 4’s are available through the shop.
  • On turns 9-10, tier 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s and 5’s are available through the shop.
  • From turn 11 onward, all tiers are available through the shop.

By leveling up an Animal from Lvl. 1 to Lvl. 2, or Lvl. 2 to Lvl. 3, another Animal will appear that is one tier higher than the current tiers available in the shop. The only exception to this is when you are able to purchase tier 6’s and you level up an Animal, a tier 6 Animal will appear because it is the highest tier.

For example, on turn 3 if I were to level up a Pig, since tier 2’s just became available, a tier 3 Animal would appear in the shop.

The only other way to get higher tiered Animals early is through using a Sleeping Pill on a Spider or Eagle.

Following an update, lives are lost in respect to what tier Animal is available in the current shop. For example, losing on turns 1 or 2 will only cost the player 1 life. Losing on turns 3 or 4 will result in losing 2 lives, and losing from turn 5 onward will cost the player 3 lives. Each life is subtracted from the starting total of 10.

Starting Order

Throughout the guide, I will refer to the order in which animal’s abilities are triggered as the Starting Order.

The way this works, is the Animal with the most attack will trigger its ability first. For example, if a 10/10 Skunk and a 4/6 Dolphin were present, the 10/10 Skunk would lower an Animal’s health before the 4/6 Dolphin fires its shot.

Standard Pack

Each Animal in this section is part of the Standard Pack, and is available for free from the time you download the game.

Lvl. 2: Faint: Summon a 2/2 Cricket.

You are able to sell the Zombie Cricket summoned by a Sleeping Pill. The sell price is determined by what level the original Cricket was. Lvl. 1 is 1 gold, Lvl. 2 is 2 gold, and Lvl. 3 is 3 gold.
If Honey is placed on this animal, and it faints during battle, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be placed in front of the summoned Cricket.

Lvl. 1: Sell: Give shop animals +1/+1.
Lvl. 2: Sell: Give shop animals +2/+2.

Lvl. 1: Start of battle: Deal 1 damage to a random enemy.
Lvl. 2: Start of battle: Deal 2 damage to a random enemy.

Lvl. 1: Buy: Give a random friend +1/+1.
Lvl. 2: Buy: Give a random friend +2/+2.
Lvl. 3: Buy: Give a random friend +3/+3.

Notes:
This effect occurs both when placing an Otter onto a new space and placing an Otter onto an existing one.
The buff applied by the Otter is permanent.
Otter does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-8Pig – 2/2

Lvl. 1: Sell: Gain an extra 1 gold.
Lvl. 2: Sell: Gain an extra 2 gold.
Lvl. 3: Sell: Gain an extra 3 gold.

Notes:
When selling a Lvl. 1 pig, the player will gain 2 gold instead of the usual 1 gold from selling Animals. With each level this goes up to 3 and 4 gold respectively.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-9Sloth – 1/1

“Has no special ability. Is kind of lame combat-wise. But he truly believes in you!”

Notes:
This animal does not gain any additional abilities when leveling up.
The Sloth is an extremely rare animal. How often this animal appears is largely unknown.

Tier 2 (Standard)

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-10Crab – 3/3

Lvl. 1: Start of battle: Copy Health from friend ahead.
Lvl. 2: Start of battle: Copy Health from friend ahead.
Lvl. 3: Start of battle: Copy Health from friend ahead.

Notes:
This animal does not gain any additional abilities when leveling up.
During the start of the round, if the Crab faints before its turn in the Starting Order, it will still attempt to take Health from the animal in front of it but faint regardless.
Placing a Crab behind a Crab will copy the health of the animal in front of the first Crab. For example. A 3/3 Crab, 3/3 Crab, and 50/50 Fish will result in both Crabs becoming 3/50’s.
Placing a Tiger behind the Crab will not double the amount of Health the Crab receives. Instead, the Crab will just copy the Health of the animal in front of it twice.
Crab does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-11Dodo – 1/3

Lvl. 1: Start of battle: Give Attack to friend ahead.
Lvl. 2: Start of battle: Give 2x Attack to friend ahead.
Lvl. 3: Start of battle: Give 3x Attack to friend ahead.

Notes:
Dodo gives whatever its attack stat is in addition to the units own attack. For example, if a Leopard has 22 attack and the Dodo has 20 attack, the Leopard would now have 42 attack.
Dodos can give their attack to other Dodos, which will then give their buffed attack to the Animal in front of them. To make the most of this, put your strongest Dodo in the back to trigger their ability first in the Starting Order.
Dodo does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-12Dog – 2/2

Lvl. 1: Friend summoned: Gain +1 Attack or +1 Health.
Lvl. 2: Friend summoned: Gain +2 Attack or +2 Health.
Lvl. 3: Friend summoned: Gain +3 Attack or +3 Health.

Notes:
This effect occurs when an animal is bought in an empty spot on your team, but not if you upgrade an animal by dragging one from the shop onto an existing animal.
If multiple animals are summoned in one move, the Dog will have its effect occur the number of times animals were summoned.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-13Elephant – 3/5

Lvl. 1: Before Attack: Deal 1 damage to friend behind.
Lvl. 2: Before Attack: Deal 1 damage to 2 friends behind.
Lvl. 3: Before Attack: Deal 1 damage to 3 friends behind.

Notes:
It is possible to faint a friendly animal with this ability if enough damage is done.
The damage the Elephant does to friends will remove Melon Armor and Coconut Shield.
Elephant does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-14Flamingo – 3/1

Lvl. 1: Faint: Give the two friends behind +1/+1.

Lvl. 1: Faint: Deal 2 damage to all.
Lvl. 2: Faint: Deal 4 damage to all.
Lvl. 3: Faint: Deal 6 damage to all.

Notes:
If Honey is placed on this unit, its faint effect will occur before the 1/1 Bee is spawned.
Using a Sleeping Pill on this animal in the buy phase will do permanent damage to your team.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-16Peacock – 1/5

Lvl. 1: Hurt: Gain +2 Attack
Lvl. 2: Hurt: Gain +4 Attack
Lvl. 3: Hurt: Gain +6 Attack

Notes:
If this animal takes enough damage to faint, the Hurt effect will not occur.
Hurt abilities can be triggered outside of battle if the Animal is hurt by a Hedgehog or Badger. This will result in a permanent Health loss for all animals affected by the Hedgehog or Badger’s abilities, however.
If this animal is attacked with Melon Armor applied and takes no damage, its effect will not occur.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-17Rat – 4/5

Lvl. 1: Faint: Summon one 1/1 Dirty Rat for the opponent that betrays him.
Lvl. 2: Faint: Summon one 1/1 Dirty Rat for the opponent that betrays him.
Lvl. 3: Faint: Summon one 1/1 Dirty Rat for the opponent that betrays him.

Notes:
Dirty Rat is an otherwise unobtainable animal that will hit the animal directly in front of it for 1 damage when said animal attacks.
While the Rat itself does not gain any additional abilities when leveling up, the Dirty Rat it summons at Lvl. 2 will hit for 2 damage, then at Lvl. 3 hit for 3 damage.
If a Dirty Rat that your Rat summoned is left on the opponents team when the match is over, your opponent will get the win.
If there is no space to summon a Dirty Rat on the opponent’s team, no Dirty Rat will spawn.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-18Shrimp – 2/1

Lvl. 1: Friend sold: Give a random friend +1 Health.
Lvl. 2: Friend sold: Give a random friend +2 Health.
Lvl. 3: Friend sold: Give a random friend +3 Health.

Notes:
Selling the Shrimp does not count towards its effect unless you have another Shrimp.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-19Spider – 2/2

Lvl. 1: Faint: Summon one tier 3 animal as a 2/2.
Lvl. 2: Faint: Summon one tier 3 animal as a 4/4.
Lvl. 3: Faint: Summon one tier 3 animal as a 6/6.

Notes:
Using a Sleeping Pill on this animal in earlier rounds allows you to have a tier 3 animal before they are normally purchasable.
If Honey is placed on this animal, and it faints during battle, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be placed in front of the summoned animal.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-20Swan – 3/4

Lvl. 1: Start of turn: Gain 1 gold.
Lvl. 2: Start of turn: Gain 2 gold.
Lvl. 3: Start of turn: Gain 3 gold.

Notes:
“Start of turn” refers to returning to the shop after battle.

Tier 3 (Standard)

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-21Badger – 5/4

Lvl. 1: Faint: Deal Attack damage to adjacent animals.
Lvl. 2: Faint: Deal 2x Attack damage to adjacent animals.
Lvl. 3: Faint: Deal 3x Attack damage to adjacent animals.

Notes:
This faint effect applies to your teammates as well as the opposing team.
If a Badger faints while attacking and knocking out an opponent with Honey on it, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be summoned, only for the Badger’s faint effect to knock it out as well. In this situation, if both animals were Badgers with Honey on them, both Honey Bees would be knocked out simultaneously, resulting in a draw.
Placing a Tiger behind the Badger will have the Badger attack the 2 animals in front and behind it instead of just the first animal in front and behind.
Using a Sleeping Pill on this animal in the buy phase will do permanent damage to your team. This can be used, however, to trigger the Hurt effects of other animals.
Badger does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-22Blowfish – 3/5

Lvl. 1: Hurt: Deal 2 damage to a random enemy.
Lvl. 2: Hurt: Deal 4 damage to a random enemy.
Lvl. 3: Hurt: Deal 6 damage to a random enemy.

For Blowfish specifically, the ability will not trigger because there are no enemies in the shop.
If this animal is attacked with Melon Armor applied and takes no damage, its effect will not occur.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-23Camel – 2/5

Lvl. 1: Hurt: Give friend behind +1/+2
Lvl. 2: Hurt: Give friend behind +2/+4
Lvl. 3: Hurt: Give friend behind +3/+6

Kangaroo does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-26Ox – 1/4

Lvl. 1: Friend ahead faints: Gain Melon Armor and +2 Attack.
Lvl. 2: Friend ahead faints: Gain Melon Armor and +4 Attack.
Lvl. 3: Friend ahead faints: Gain Melon Armor and +6 Attack.

Notes:
“Friend ahead” refers to friend directly ahead in this case.
Animals that summon other Animals upon fainting make it so the Ox can receive buffs multiple times per round. Melon Armor does not stack however, the Ox will only have a maximum of one Melon Armor at any point in time.
You are able to trigger the Ox’s ability outside of battle with a Sleeping Pill, granting Melon Armor and a buff permanently.
Ox does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-27Rabbit – 3/2

Lvl. 1: Friend eats shop food: Give it +1 Health.

Lvl. 1: Faint: Summon two 2/2 Rams.
Lvl. 2: Faint: Summon two 4/4 Rams.
Lvl. 3: Faint: Summon two 6/6 Rams.

Notes:
If there is no space to summon the second Ram upon fainting, only one Ram will be summoned.
If Honey is placed on this animal, and it faints during battle, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be placed in front of the summoned Rams. However, if there isn’t space for both Rams and the Honey Bee, the Rams have priority and will be summoned first.
Using a Sleeping Pill on this animal in the shop will summon up to 2 Rams that are the same level as the Sheep.
You are able to sell the Rams summoned by a Sleeping Pill. The sell price is determined by what level the Sheep was. Lvl. 1 is 1 gold, Lvl. 2 is 2 gold, and Lvl. 3 is 3 gold.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-29Snail – 2/2

Lvl. 1: Buy: If you lost last battle, give all friends +2/+1.
Lvl. 2: Buy: If you lost last battle, give all friends +4/+2.
Lvl. 3: Buy: If you lost last battle, give all friends +6/+3.

Notes:
Like other Buy effects, this effect can be triggered by dragging a Snail from the shop onto an existing Snail.

All Pets and Food w/ Notes! (v0.1.0)-30Turtle – 2/4

Lvl. 1: Faint: Give friend behind Melon Armor.
Lvl. 2: Faint: Give 2 friends behind Melon Armor.
Lvl. 3: Faint: Give 3 friends behind Melon Armor.

Notes:
Using a Sleeping Pill on this animal in earlier rounds allows Animals to have Melon Armor before it is normally purchasable.
Melon Armor granted during battle will replace any other status effects applied to the animal behind Turtle until the end of battle.

Lvl. 1: Start of battle: Swallow friend ahead and release it as level 1 after fainting.
Lvl. 2: Start of battle: Swallow friend ahead and release it as level 2 after fainting.
Lvl. 3: Start of battle: Swallow friend ahead and release it as level 3 after fainting.

Notes:
Whales will not swallow fainted friends, meaning if the friend in front of the whale faints before the Whale’s turn in the Starting Order, they will not be swallowed.
If Honey is placed on this animal, and it faints during battle, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be placed in front of the summoned animal.
If a Tiger is behind a Whale, the Whale will swallow the two animals in front of it, but when it faints, it will release two of the furthest forward swallowed Animal. For example, if your lineup is Tiger > Whale > Fish > Ant, the whale will swallow the Fish and the Ant, but when it faints it will release two Ants.
Putting a Whale behind a Whale does not work very well. The furthest forward Whale will swallow the Animal in front of it. The Whale behind will swallow the front Whale, but when the swallowed Whale faints it will be treated as a brand new Whale with no swallowed animal.
Whale does not appear in Expansion Pack #1.

Notes:
Splash Attack allows up to 5 damage to pass through the front animal, and hit the animal behind.
If Honey is placed on this animal, and it faints during battle, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be placed in front of the summoned Bus.
Using a Sleeping Pill on this animal in the shop will summon a Bus that is the same level as the Deer.
You are able to sell the Bus summoned by a Sleeping Pill. The sell price is determined by what level the Deer was. Lvl. 1 is 1 gold, Lvl. 2 is 2 gold, and Lvl. 3 is 3 gold.

Lvl. 1: Hurt: Gain Coconut Shield.

Coconut Shield can be granted outside of battle if the Gorilla is hurt on the shop screen by a Hedgehog or Badger. This will result in a permanent Health loss for all animals affected by the Hedgehog or Badger’s abilities, however.
If this animal takes enough damage to faint, the Hurt effect will not occur.

If a Dirty Rat that your Rat summoned is left on the opponents team when the match is over, your opponent will get the win.

Chicken has essentially the same effect as buying a Canned Food from the shop.
Like other Buy effects, this effect can be triggered by dragging a tier 1 animal from the shop onto an existing tier 1 animal of the same type.
Chicken does not appear in the Standard Pack.

If Honey is placed on this animal, and it faints during battle, the 1/1 Honey Bee will be placed in front of the summoned animal.

The Peanut effect faints any enemy it comes in contact with, unless they have Melon Armor or a Coconut Shield.

  1. I can’t begin to thank you enough for this guide! I have been enjoying the game, but needed this information to make that next leap into consistent 7+ wins. Thank you!

I also wanted to add that my very first perfect 10-win was with the “weak” elephant strategy you outlined, as it was all I was being handed. Ended up with a chonk fish, swan, blowfish, camel, elephant and went for it. A lot of +health food, garlic, and meat, and we’re off to the races! Thank you again!
