I don’t know why, but the developers decided that there should be no sound by default.

Techtonica Fix Black Screen & No Sound

1. Go to the sound tab and increase to your liking.
2. Who has a black screen – in the video settings at the very bottom, scroll through the last three items to 100% and restart the game.
