The majority of side quests in The Outer Worlds are simple. Speak with an NPC, follow the objectives, done. Make sure when you are attempting a specific quest, that it is selected in your journal. You can only track one quest at a time, so you want to ensure you’re chasing the correct markers.
Journey into Smoke Quest Guide
In case you freed Casandra O’Malley while doing The Doom That Came to Roseway only then you would get this quest. You will have to revive a rare cigarette case for Lillian when you meet her at the Covert Lab exit. You will be asked to go to the Raptidon Pens which is in the south.
You will have to save yourselves from mines which also include a Behemoth. The cigarette case is present atop a white box there and you will get 9000XP. You will be advised by Vicar Max to keep the item so you can sell it later if he is in you party.
Following are your options for ending this quest:
- Go back to Lillian lie (25) about the case and a reward of 9000xp, 12000xp, will be yours along with the completion of the quest.
- The other option is to give her the case, where you can use Intimidate (45), and again get 9000xp and 12000xp.
- If you give her the case without any conditions then you’ll gain 9000xp, 12000xp, 625 Bit Cartridge and Anarchist’s Cookbook which is a Unique Weapon.
