A brief guide on objectives and mechanics for new Victims.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre How to Escape
The primary objective for Victims is to Escape. There are three ways to do this:
- Escape through the Electrified Exits
- Escape through the Steam Valve Gate
- Escape through the underground Fuse Gate
It is through team work and pushing these three objectives that you will make the killers spread out and ease tension off each other as you move through the game.
There are some smaller tips, like stabbing grandpa and opening lots of passages that we will get into as well.
The Beginning
1. Start from the hook
The killers are stuck in a cinematic for the first 15 seconds of the game, so you can mash the E button and they won’t see you if you do it quickly. Some people may argue with this, but wtvs.
2. Find tools
Grab tools from around the basement, I grab two pick tools if I am playing Connie or Julie. Otherwise grab 1 tool and something else and follow Julie or Connie to help them out.
3. The first door
The first locked door opening will typically trigger grandpa, He acts like a big motion detector, don’t move while he is screaming.
Escape through the Electrified Gates
We’re going to use the slaughterhouse map for our example. Kudos to whoever made these maps! please post below and I’ll credit you. All three detailed maps are posted below
This is the most common way of escape for survivors but is the most amount of steps. In order to get to the electrified exits you will need to pass through 3 areas, power down the gates and escape.
- You’ll need lockpicks to move from
- The Basement > Area 1 > Area 2 > Area 3 > Escape
- Total: 4 Lockpicks
- Also disable Battery or Generator
You’ll arrive somewhere in Area 1. There are several ways to get up into area 1 from the basement. Probe these as necessary if they are dangerous, otherwise try to move to area 2 quickly.
Before you can leave through the final gate you will need to disable the generator or battery!
The maps below show where the batteries and and generators can be located, once you disable with these, the gate light will turn green showing that the power is off and run to safety.
Escape through the Steam Gate
This is the nosiest exit and also a great distraction for easing tension on other escapes.
Escaping through the steam gate involves three elements.
- The Valve Handle
- The Valve Tank
- Waiting for the door to open
1. Get the valve handle
You’ll find them around the map, check the three detailed maps below for valve handle locations
2. Attach Valve Handle
Attach the handle and crank that baby up! Once it hits the top it will take 1 minute before the Actual gates open.
3. Make your way to the exit on time
The gate is super noisy and starts hissing and making all sorts of noises as it opens up. Good Bubbas will puppy guard these exits, but if you are Ana, just use your ability and dash through him. It will close 30 seconds after opening
Escape through the Fuse Gate
Otherwise known as the basement exit. This exit is a tough one to reach if you are the player that happens to fix the fuse box.
Once powered the door opens immediately in the basement and stays open for 30 seconds. Usually the one who opens it cannot make it down. It requires three things to open.
- A fuse
- A pick tool
- The fuse Box
1. Find a Fuse
They are all over the map, just grab one and take it to the fuse box.
2. Unlock the Fuse Box and Fix the Fuses
You need a lock pick tool to open the box the first time. It is a quick math problem to fix the fuse box. Once you are done, the basement gate will immediately open. Use team work on this bad boy, or use it as a distraction.
Three Detailed Maps
Again, Kudos to whoever made these, please reach out so I can give you credit. These show all the main map levels, not the basement or upstairs on the house. They also do not include several tool boxes, so you’ll have to learn those on your own.

Extra Strategies
1. Open a lot of doors and hatches in the basement
The basement is the safest spot for the Victims. There is a ton of sneaky passage ways, doors you can barricade and good hiding spots. Additionally, if you ever need to jump through a well, you’ll end up back here, so make sure it’s looking good down there. Lastly, opening up lots of the sliding doors to Area 1 makes it way easier to have breathing room for the victims.
2. Double Stab Grandpa!
Grandpa is a total ♥♥♥, slap that boy around. If you and your team can stab grandpa once to incapacitate him and then stab him again! He goes down to level 0. This can be a big help for the survivor team if they’re not moving a breakneck speed.
3. Use those Wells
Use those wells! Anytime you are in the heat, feel free to bail unless you are Leland baiting a hitchhiker around.
Good luck and push those objectives when you can. Use your mics and have fun out there!
