From a Land Far, Far Away Walkthrough
On the small island off the east coast of Ard Skellig. Its directly to the east of the ‘Redgill’ fast travel marker.
On the small island in the description above, you’ll find a single large tree and beneath it, a dead body. Examine the body with Witcher Sense active and then loot the Book – Journal from the ground nearby.
Read the Journal in the Key Items section of the inventory. This will update our objectives. Make your way to the objective marker directly to the east of your current location.
After reading the Journal, we’ll be in the midst of a large search area encompassing the island. We need to find a sunken treasure chest within the investigation area. Head to the southeast corner of the island and look in the water below for a mast sticking slightly above the water.
Swim to this location and dive underwater with your Witcher Senses on to find the target treasure chest. Inside you’ll find the Captain’s Log and a Letter Sealed with Impermeable Wax. Note that you can also examine the seal on the hull of the boat as well.
Looting the chest will update our objectives and provide us with a new objective marker. It can be found in the greater Novigrad region, just to the west of the town of Ursten and south of the city of Novigrad. Head to the nearest available fast travel marker and make your way back to the continent.
When you arrive at Ursten, head to the bay to the west and you’ll see that the search area that the quest has given us is quite large. Note that the group of islands in the bay here and the water surrounding them is teeming with level 12-14 Drowners so make sure you are ready for a fight on your way over!
The shipwreck we are looking for can be found on the northern side of the bay, at the very north-western edge of the search area. Use Witcher Sense to inspect the following:
- The seal on the side of the shipwreck.
- The footprints on the ground leading away from the shipwreck.
After examining the initial footprints, you’ll notice that there is a trail of said footprints leading away from the area. Activate your Witcher Sense and follow this trail a short distance until you spot a woman in the distance.
She’ll race off, so be sure to chase right after her. She’ll lead you to a cave nearby (and a new fast travel point ‘Widow’s Grotto’). Enter the cave for a scene.
During the conversation that ensues a Skelliger fellow will show up. Here we’ll essentially have two options for completing the side-quest. We can say either:
- “Won’t let you hurt them.” – The Skelliger will attack and we’ll have to kill him.
- “They’re yours.” – Geralt will walk off.
Either way you choose to complete the conversation, the side-quest will then draw to a close at this point.
- Note: For completing the side-quest you’ll earn 50XP. If you sided with the woman, she’ll give you a Stone Medallion.
Be sure to loot the chests hiding at the back of the cave before you leave (one of them had Diagram: Reaver’s Boots in my game).
