Half the fun of this game comes from making your own squads, so do give that a try. Still, if you would like some tips the squads below carried me well enough through the first half or so of Normal and I then swapped some better units in. My most used medallion titles were Dragonstrike, Slow Multihit (on units that are already very slow), Powerful+Indestructible (on Guarders only), Laser, Strike Captain, and several of the Boost [Type] titles. If you know better options, please post them.
