Zelda Link’s Awakening Where To Trade The Fish Hook

In Zelda: Link’s Awakening, one particular trading quest known as the Trading Sequence must be completed before you can fight the final boss and finish the main story. You need to find 14 items and hand them to several characters around Koholint Island.

Where To Trade The Fish Hook

You cannot do this part until you get the Flippers from the fourth dungeon. Once you have the flippers, jump off the bridge here and swim underneath it.

Hop up on the boat and talk to the man to trade him the hook. He will give you a necklace as a reward.

Other Trade Quests

One of the main side quests in Zelda Link’s Awakening is the trade quest line. This quest line will bring you all over the island and you can easily get confused on what item goes where. Check out this Zelda Link’s Awakening trade quest guide to complete it easily.

Where to Trade Yoshi

After you win Yoshi, head to the upper part of the village and you will see a building that has two doors on it. Go in there and speak to the woman with the baby. She will ask you for the Yoshi Doll and give you a Bow Tie in exchange. Not really a fair deal in my eyes, but we need the item to progress in the quest.

Where To Trade The Bowtie

The bowtie is also handed off in the village. Go to the house with the Chomp in front of it and go into the smaller room connected to that house. Inside there is a small Chomp who wants to bowtie. She will give you a can of her dog food in exchange.

Where To Trade The Dogfood

The dogfood is the first item that will take you out of Mabe village. Head back down to the Toronbo shore and a little past where you found your sword, there is a shack. Inside the shack there is a gator who loves canned food. He eats it up and gives you some bananas. Here is where you can find him on the map.

Where To Trade The Bananas

The bananas are traded to the monkey found here on the map.

This will give you access to the castle and get you a stick for trading.

Where To Trade The Stick

You can trade the stick here on the map, and watch bees chase Tarin around.

This will get you the Honeycomb, which you can trade in Animal Village when you get there.

Where to Trade Honeycomb

You can collect the Honeycomb after you’ve finished the Key Cavern. Meet with Tarin by a tree in the Ukuku Prairie. He’ll take the Stick and use it to destroy a beehive. The fleeing bees will leave behind the Honeycomb for you to collect.

Where To Trade The Pineapple

You can trade the Pineapple up in the Tal Tal Mountain range. You will find a guy who is looking for food here on the map.

He will give you a hibiscus plant in return.

Where To Trade The Hibiscus

The Hibiscus can be traded to a goat lady in the Animal Village. Her house is to the right of the sculptor’s house in the village. She will give you a letter for your troubles.

Where To Trade The Goats Letter

To trade the Goat’s Letter, you will have to go north of the Mysterious Forest. You can find the house you are looking for here on the map.

He will give you a broom as a reward.

Where To Trade The Broom

You can trade the broom the Grandma Yahoo in Mabe village, she is to the left of the phone house. She will give you a Fish Hook as a reward.

Where To Trade The Necklace

The necklace belongs to a mermaid that is just to the north of where the fisherman is. Swim out from under the bridge and then swim north to her. Talk to her and she will give you a scale for the necklace.

Where To Trade The Scale

The scale is the last part of the trade quest and you will need to the Hookshot in order to access the area. Once you beat the fifth dungeon and have the Hookshot, head here on the map and put the scale in the statue.

You will be rewarded with a Magnifying glass for your trouble. This can’t be traded, but you can use it in Mabe Village. Go back to the Mabe Village library and read the book on the bottom left. This will give you a clue you will need later in order to beat the game. With that, the trade quest is complete.
