The Long Dark: Lost Power Workers Walkthrough

This quest is activated when you pick up the memo on the bench in the old substation (check Chapter 2 for details on how to get there).

Turns out a couple of workers went missing at some point and now Will is going to try and locate them… or at least their bodies. The first one is a bit tricky to get to though.

If you check your map, you’ll see that worker #1 is lost pretty close the the prison. Sadly, he’s down a very steep ravine whose entrance is somewhat hidden. To get there, follow the road out of the prison. You’ll eventually come across an abandoned truck on the left. Go past it, and then immediately go left off the road. The footpath will then lead you to a hanging bridge. You’ll take another left to find some small cliffs that Will can climb down (like the ones from the Prologue).

After you climb down and walk into the ravine itself, you’ll see a mini-waterfall behind you. Turn around and go up the waterfall; there’s a small footpath on the left.

Keep walking down the ravine and eventually you’ll come across a backpack and, a few more feet away, the missing worker. Be sure to search the worker’s body to complete part one of the quest.

Now on to worker #2. Now the map doesn’t show us a person icon like before, but that’s why I’m here. To find this worker, you need to be in at least Chapter 2. This will repair the bridge to the trailer which, spoiler, is where the worker is located.

Now getting to the trailer is a trek, but pretty straightforward. You’ll follow the same path that takes you to the power plant (see Chapter 2 for more details), but instead of turning left when you reach the road from the climbing area, you’ll turn right. Just follow the road and the trailer will come into view on the left. Head inside and you’ll be greeted by this shocking sight:

…there are a couple of possible explanations for this, but neither are good. Anyways, search the body for another ID badge and the mission will be complete.
