Field of Glory: Empires Accurate Combat Results Chart

This guide covers accurate combat results in Field of Glory: Empires.

Accurate Combat Results Chart

The purpose of this guide is to display accurate combat results in Field of Glory: Empires in a chart.

I created this guide because most of the information in the manual regarding duel results is inaccurate (section 10.7.5). For example, the manual states “If the difference is 3, the weakest side will lose 1 hit and 1 effectiveness point.” In this situation in-game, the weakest side will actually lose 2 effectiveness points and 1 hit point.

Note that the yellow numbers that appear in a duel represent lost effectiveness points and the red numbers represent lost hit points.

The circles under the unit card represent that unit’s effectiveness points and the hearts represent that unit’s hit points.

The enemy javelinmen’s rating after all rolls and modifiers is 15, while my citizen hoplite’s is 12.

Since the difference is 3, we look at the left column on the chart for “diff of 3” and see that my citizen hoplite will lose 2 effectiveness points and 1 hit point.

Closing Notes

While the last difference listed on the chart is “diff of 10” it is possible to have higher differences in combat results. I have gotten results of differences of 11, 12, and 13. Difference of 11 had the weak side lose 6 EP and 5 HP. Difference of 12 had the weak side lose 6 EP and 6 HP. Difference of 13 had the weak side lose 7 EP and 6 HP. Judging by these results we can guesstimate that there is an incremental pattern of EP and HP loss that correlates with increasing difference of combat results.

I’ve personally tested all the results listed except for the difference of 7. I hadn’t gotten the result for it and wasn’t interested in spamming battles until I got a difference of 7 in a duel. The “diff of 7” information listed in the chart is a guesstimate based on the incremental pattern I wrote about in the above paragraph.

If you find any mistakes in this guide please let me know and I’ll do my best to correct them. I hope this guide serves as a useful reference for those seeking to fully understand Field of Glory: Empire’s combat system.
