This very simple guide helps bypassing the launcher.
How to Skip Launcher
Method 1: launch the game directly
This method is the simplest and usually the best one.
- Right-click L.A. Noire in Steam > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files.
- Hover over LANoire.exe, hold right click and drag your cursor over to your desktop.
- Click “Create shortcuts here”.
- Right-click the newly created desktop icon and click Properties.
- In the target field, add -parentIsLauncher to the end of the field.
- You’re done!
Method 2: renaming EXEs
This method is more useful to Steam Big Picture Mode users.
- Right-click L.A. Noire in Steam > Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files.
- Select LANLauncher.exe, press F2, copy the file name using Ctrl+C and add something like “Real” in the beginning to avoid conflicts.
- Select LANoire.exe and rename it by pressing F2 again and pasting the previously copied file name using Ctrl+V.
- Right-click the game in Steam > Properties > Set Launch Options.
- Enter/add -parentIsLauncher and press OK.
- Enjoy!
Note: redo the process after each update.
This seems to have stopped working for me as of March 2020. It was working fine and then one day L.A. Noire as a whole just stopped working and kept throwing an error. Launching LanLauncher this week I got a Rockstar Social Club update, and suddenly the game works again. However, both LaunLauncher.exe and LANoire.exe both seem to just bring up the launcher now.
