Red Dead Redemption 2 – Welcome to the New World Walkthrough

Welcome to the New World

Welcome to the tropical island of Guarma! This section of the Red Dead Redemption 2 walkthrough contains a description of the mission Welcome to the New World. The survivor of the shipwreck, Arthur, is thrown ashore and embarks on a search for a gang.

How to win a gold medal in Welcome to the New World?

  • Don’t lag behind the rest of the captives – This is a simple task – once you’ve been chained, keep going ahead and stay close.
  • Get 10 headshots – Just like in other RDR2 missions, you need accurate shots to the heads of enemies.

Press forward on the right stick to get moving on the beach. Keep walking. Arthur, however, is exhausted, and delirious. It’s slow going.

Eventually, you’ll get a title for Chapter 5 – Guarma.

Press the touch screen to look at the smoke. Miraculously, it’s Dutch and the boys. They explain we’re on the island of Guarma.

Not long after the reunion, uniformed men show up, pointing guns at you. They’re bringing you to jail.

Gold Medal Requirement

  • Do not fall behind when walking with the chain gang.

After enjoying the scenery for awhile, shots ring out. It’s the friends of the “criminals” you’ve been chained to. Arthur grabs a key from a gunned-down guard and uses it to unlock everyone’s shackles.

During the chaos, you all group up, and are instructed by a rebel to follow them. Unfortunately, as you make your escape, Javier is shot. He yells at all of you to leave without him.

Keep following the rebels. As you progress, they’ll explain what’s going on with the local climate. It’s not good.

Here’s where you can get your headshots for the Gold Medal Requirements.

Shoot as you follow the group. There will be times when you’re able to stop. Find cover, and shoot from there.

Eventually, you’ll make it to camp. You can find a way of this island yet – you just need to help with a few tasks, and rescue Javier, of course.
