Riding Derby Walkthrough
Riding Derby is a main story mission in Far Cry New Dawn. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Riding Derby Main Quest.
Area: Gas station east of the Rafinery
Quest Giver: Irwin
Requirement: finishing Inside Job – Irwin will call you shortly after
Reward: Derby Outfit
Objectives:
Talk to Irwin
Prepare for the Derby / Enter the Car / Drive to the arena
Eliminate your opponents / Drop your weapons / Enter the VIP section
Take the Gun / Take back your gear and escape
You may want to equip weapons you like using while driving and against vehicles (single handed guns or big explosives) to help you out. It’s also a good idea to upgrade your mechanic perk before taking on this mission.
It won’t take long for Irwin to radio you letting you know he has the car you need to enter the derby. Once he does, head east over the bridge from The Refinery outpost to the waypoint marked on your map and talk to Irwin.
After talking to Irwin interact with the duffle bag to skip time to that night when the derby takes place.
Irwin will bring you the car as well as a weapon. Get inside and drive to the arena marked on your map, wait in the double-doored section and then turn right to drive to the starting line. If you turn left you’ll start facing the opposite direction from everyone else – this may be advantageous to you depending on how you like to play. If you die you’ll start again facing the correct way.
Eliminate Your Opponents
You’ll start on the arena with several other vehicles you need to take out. Pink flares will appear on the track which will replenish your ammo as well as your medkits. Try to keep moving as much as possible to stay alive – this should give your health an opportunity to regen if it gets too low and If you have the perk this will also help repair your vehicle.
You can also leave your car – it’s dangerous but if you’ve brought a rocket launcher or a weapon you’d like to aim with two hands this can help you win the fight.
After enough vehicles have been taken out two more will enter the ring. Both are very dangerous if they ram you so again try to keep moving. Throwing molotovs is also a great way to damage cars and drivers if you’re having trouble shooting them through the windows.
Next, a large truck will be unleashed into the arena. Again, just keep moving while you try to take this enemy out.
Once you’ve defeated the enemies it’ll tell you to stash your things and head up to the dinner. It can be difficult to see the entrance in the dark but there’s an opening in the fence just right of where the ‘Drop your weapons’ waypoint is located.
Enter the VIP Section
Once you drop your weapons, a ladder will drop down just to the right. Use it and follow the path to the highwaymen dinner.
Here you’ll witness a cutscene where the Mickey and Lou reveal that Ethan has come to them, offering them the bliss fruit if they burn down New Eden. Then the trio will take off to do so.
Leave the room the way you came in and go into the bus shell to the right. Inside the middle toilet is a gun, the rest all contain other things you may not want to look at.
Go back to the party and a slow motion scene will be activated. You’ll need to take out everyone in this room during this scene or things can get really messy. Aim for each enemy’s head left to right. As you start firing the door behind will open letting another elite in. Shoot them in the head last. If you die you’ll get to restart from finding a gun in the toilet.
Escape the Arena
Move into the next room where you can find a workbench or the duffle bag to re-equip your weapons. You may want to choose things you can fire from the car once more as you’ll be driving again.
Once you’re ready, get in the car and the gate will open out into the arena. Drive for the exit and get out of there as quickly as possible as there are lots of enemies, fleeing is a lot easier than fighting and they won’t follow you out of the arena. Keep running until you’re a safe distance away and Irwin will contact you letting you know that the twins and Ethan are headed for New Eden.
