The Witcher 3: Abandoned Sawmill Walkthrough

Abandoned Sawmill Walkthrough

Start Location: This quest will begin automatically upon visiting the Abandoned Sawmill located on the island of Ard Skellig to the northeast of ‘Blandare’, west of ‘Gedyneith’ and northwest of the ‘Druid’s Camp’ fast travel markers.

After finding the Abandoned Sawmill area, the side-quest will immediately initiate. As it does, it will throw out a fairly large search area on the mini-map for you to explore encompassing the sawmill itself and several building surrounding it.

As you might have guessed, we’ll need to investigate the area a little to progress with the side-quest. Activate Witcher Sense and you can inspect the following:

  • The chest inside the northeasternmost building. Loot the Letter for the Lumberjack’s Wife.
  • The Book by the fire pit inside the large building in the northeast corner of the search area. Loot it for Sawmill Owner’s Notes.
  • Blow down the door to the building in the southwest corner of the search area with AARD. Inside loot the chest for Letter from a Druid.
  • The pile of bones laying around in the centre of the search area.

After inspecting all four points of interest, a Leshen will spawn in the area. If you have fought one of these before, you’ll know how to handle it, if not read on! If you get too far from the Leshen, it will summon roots that will erupt from the ground below Geralt for great damage. As such, you’ll want to get in close to attack it with IGNI and your silver sword whilst avoiding its melee attacks.
