Greenhouse Effect Walkthrough
Start Location: This can be very difficult to locate. To find it, look at your map. Note where the road south from Kaer Morhen fortress crosses the river for the first time. Just south of this is an island. Directly east of the island you should be able to make out a small trail on the map. Further to the east of this is another trail – at the end of this trail is where you’ll start the quest.
Note: You’ll be unable to complete this quest unless you possess the Eye of Nehaleni given to you by Keira Metz during ‘Wandering in the Dark’.
If you followed the instructions above (sorry if it was a little tricky to follow) you’ll reach what looks like an inactive Point of Power – approach this to begin the quest. We’ll need to search the area. Activate your Witcher Senses and you can inspect the following:
- Each of the three obelisks (inactive Places of Power).
- Herb planters in an alcove by the southernmost obelisk.
- Sickle and pots by a table in the alcove by the southernmost obelisk.
Whilst those are interesting, what we are really after is the illusion of a boulder in the alcove by the southernmost obelisk. Use your Eye of Nehaleni to remove the illusion and loot the Document – Letter from the Resident Mage that it was hiding.
At this point, we’ll need to head into the Quest items tab of Geralt’s inventory menu and read the Letter from the Resident Mage. This will update our objectives.
To restore the weather, we need to manipulate the obelisks. Hit one of them with a blast of AARD and the other two with a shot of IGNI (the specific stones don’t seem to matter, just the combination of active signs).
Unfortunately, tinkering with the stones will summon a Chort – a smaller, less dangerous version of a Fiend. Use your Fiend tactics to take him down.
Once the Chort is dead, your objectives will tell you to return to this site in a few days. Alternatively, you can just head into the menu and Meditate for two days. When you have observed the change in the garden, the quest will be completed.
Note: For completing the quest you’ll earn 25XP.
