You can get Arueshalae at Level 8 if you put a map, a harp, and a sextant on Desna’s altar (at the bottom of the Lost Chapel map where your party is kidnapped by the Nabasu guy). You also need to have played a song in Act 1 (the one from the Starward Gaze quest). Then you can talk to her in the prison in Drezen siege and add her to the party. If you’re having a hard time finding the altar, which is unmarked, that leave Lost Chapel and re-enter the map; your party spawns right in front of it. For something different on Arue.
The damage mainly comes from the crazy high Attack Bonus (AB) she stacks, so we can afford to go Deadly Aim on her. Has some sneak for good measure. Can support the party decently well with Distracting Shots and Ranger’s Bond. Threatens enemies with opportunity attacks to compensate for the modest number of attacks (as far as ranged characters are concerned). And yes, Sanctified Slayer’s Studied Target does stack with Slayer, in case you’re wondering.
If we got her at 1-3, she’d be a contender for the best caster in the game; problem is she has 10 levels in Ranger, so for practical use, her stats are 13 Strength (STR), 22 Dexterity (DEX) out of the box. Decent, but nothing earth-shattering. By 10 it’s a bit too late to turn around and try to make something other than a Ranger out of her, but we can stack a bit more damage than she’s supposed to have. Her mental attributes are somewhat wasted, but I can’t find a good way to utilize them without compromising combat potential, which would be a net negative.
