The location for your saved game folder depends on your version of Windows.
Where are saved games located?
Stoneshard save games can be found here:
- C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\LocalLow\StoneShard
- C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\Local\StoneShard
Note: When it’s running, ALT+TAB and open task manager and go to Details, right click on the exe and “show folder location”.
Note: Sometimes you need to show hidden folders in Windows. To do that;
- Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
- Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
- Select the View tab and in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.
I played the Prologue. Is permadeath obligatory? There won’t be any saves or checkpoints?
No, the game will have two modes to choose from: classic permadeath and checkpoints. The absence of checkpoints in the Prologue is due to technical limitations and not our vision.
How to Save Game

So the two methods of saving your progress in the game are:
- Checkpoints Saving
- Manual Saving
Checkpoint Saving
Though there is no way of saving your game during the tutorial of Stoneshard, but there are few checkpoints throughout the journey out of the Abbey.
You can locate these checkpoints whenever you want to save your progress and start from that very location the next time.
One of these checkpoints is located right before the fight against the Ascended Archon and another before the exploration of Abbey’s hallway begins.
Manual Saving
You may not be able to figure out how to manually save the game. Because the only way to save the game in Stoneshard is in the Adventure Mode.
In order to save your game in the adventure mode, all you need to do is to visit a Tavern, rent a room for either a day, a week, a month or as long as you want; and then sleep in there to save your game.
You can rent a room for a certain period of time, the longer the rent out period the cheaper it will be for you.
Once you have rented the room you can come back to it and save your progress anytime. The best thing to do is to come and save the game before heading out on a big Stoneshard adventure or a challenging battle. Keep in mind that the game has only one save the file to every save is overwritten. If you start a new game you will lose your progress.
Another question which might pop into your mind is that for how long would you have to sleep? The answer to this is that ‘at least half an hour’.
You may sleep longer than that but it only costs you your thirst and hunger which you might not want to lose.
